You don’t need expensive evaluations or official assessments to get clues about your child’s development. Sometimes, the most valuable information comes from just watching how they play.
One of the simplest ways? Observe how your child draws.
The way they hold the crayon, the movements they make, how their body coordinates the task. These are all windows into fine motor development, hand dominance, bilateral coordination, and midline crossing. And when these areas are delayed, it often points back to retained primitive reflexes or nervous system dysregulation.
The beautiful part? You don’t have to be an expert to notice patterns. You just have to observe when your child’s guard is down - during playtime, during drawing, when they’re not trying to “perform.”
At our Kids N’ Bloom retreats in Maui, we go deeper. Six intensive days where we assess these developmental markers, identify what’s underlying the delays, and address it through primitive reflex integration, chiropractic care, and targeted therapies.
Our May 17-22 retreat has limited spots remaining. If you’re noticing developmental delays and want answers, comment “Maui” to learn more!
