We are so proud of Isabella! She is one of the hardest working students we know, and she is going to do amazing things! π
Meet Isabella Miller, a communication sciences and disorders major with a minor in clinical leadership management from Paducah, KY, graduating in Spring 2027.
This past summer, Isabella interned at The Papillion Center, a nonprofit family counseling center specializing in Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and trauma. She said, "I chose to pursue this internship because it allowed me to work directly with the community, make connections, learn communication and professional skills, and it is Christian-based. I plan to pursue pediatric speech pathology and, hopefully, open my own private practice in the future; this internship allowed me to learn more about family dynamics and business skills. Overall, I envision this internship to be beneficial to life after graduation because of the knowledge I have learned from my Executive Director, Erin Goodman, and Office Manager, Dawn Garner. They both have taught me to be committed, problem solve, and work as a team!"
Isabella is grateful to Senior Lewis Lecturer Dr. Ryan Voogt for his support. After graduation, she plans to pursue speech pathology and eventually open her own private practice. Her advice to future HON 386 students is to take every opportunity and learn as much as possible each day.
HON 386 allows students to fulfill three of the required Honors Experiential Education credits while completing a full-time summer internship without paying tuition. Full-time means at least 30 hours a week for 6 to 7 weeks or a minimum of 200 hours. Each internship includes mentoring, supervision, or training by a non-relative related to your established educational and career trajectory. Students interested in applying should visit our website for more information.
