It’s National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day!

In the United States, nearly 1 in 4 people living with HIV are women.
While advances in HIV care and prevention continue to move us closer to ending the epidemic, women - especially transgender women and POC - continue to face disproportionate rates of HIV alongside barriers to healthcare, stigma, and economic inequality.

Today, we recommit to expanding access to prevention, reducing stigma, and ensuring women and girls have the resources and support they need to live healthy, empowered lives.

Living with HIV is not a crime, but in more than 30 states, people are being imprisoned due to their HIV status.

Many of these archaic laws were enacted during the heat of the AIDS crisis when HIV was poorly understood but advancements in modern medicine have made it to where HIV is no longer a deadly disease but a manageable chronic condition. While science has evolved, most laws have not.

Last night members of our team participated in the annual K-Count hosted by our friends at Paducah Cooperative Ministry.

This "point-in-time" survey is used to count people experiencing homelessness in Kentucky on a single night so that gaps in services can be identified and help ensure federal funding for HUD programs.
