What an inspiring day at the S.P.A.R.K. Summit! Our very own Brandon Morehead, PA-C, was the keynote speaker kicking the day off with energy and powerful information that sparked real conversations.

Thank you to the West Kentucky Opioid Taskforce for executing such an informative and fun day! Also thank you to Murray State University Paducah Campus for playing host to the event.

Our own team, from our clinicians, targeted case managers and medical providers learned so much today. Topics ranged from substance induced psychosis, to deflection strategies, oral health, hepatitis C, and supporting youth — reminding us just how interconnected these issues really are.

To everyone who helped make today possible — thank you. You’re lighting a path for brighter days ahead, and we’re honored to walk it with you.

""I basically spent my childhood in Land Between the Lakes. It's actually one of my SHIPS," Dr. Sam Kelley went on to explain that SHIP stands for "Safe Healing Inner Place", a term coined by his brother, Dr. Ronald Kelley, a retired psychiatrist.

"At Emerald, whether they're attending one of our intensive outpatient programs, growing through therapy, or seeing someone on our psychiatry team, we want them to discover their own Safe Healing Inner Place (SHIP)," Dr. Kelley said."

This morning Brandon led a continuing education opportunity with Murray State University for local professionals and grad students. So many great questions around alternative treatment options (outside of medication).

He focused on:
-better understanding medical treatment options for behavioral health
-what genetic testing results really tells us
-how therapists play a vital role in patients finding success with their medical treatment.

We’re grateful for spaces like this where professionals and students can come together to learn, grow, and strengthen the care we provide to our community.
