DON’T WAIT. GET SCREENED.
Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in the U.S., but regular screening can help save lives and reduce new cases.

Screening looks for cancer before symptoms appear. It can also find precancerous polyps so they can be removed early, before they turn into cancer. While rates have declined in older adults thanks in part to increased screening, cases are rising among younger adults, making timely screening even more important.

Starting at age 45 and staying up to date with recommended screenings is one of the best steps you can take for your long-term health.

If you’re due, or not sure, schedule a visit with your KentuckyCare provider.

SCREENING CAN BE SIMPLE
Colorectal cancer screening may be easier than you think. There are multiple safe and effective options available, from non-invasive stool-based tests to visual exams like colonoscopy.

Regular screening helps detect colorectal cancer early and can even prevent it. Effective screening lowers deaths and reduces the number of new cases.

Most adults should start screening at age 45. If you are older than 75, talk with your provider about whether screening is right for you.

Contact KentuckyCare to talk with a provider about your options.

SCREENING SAVES LIVES
Colorectal cancer is one of the most common cancers and a leading cause of cancer death in the United States. The good news? Regular screening can help find cancer early, or even prevent it before it starts.

Screening looks for signs of cancer before symptoms appear, when it’s easier to treat. It can also find precancerous growths (polyps) so they can be removed before they turn into cancer. Studies show effective screening lowers deaths, improves outcomes, and reduces the number of new cases.

Most adults should begin screening at age 45.

Talk to your KentuckyCare provider about getting screened.

SCREENING FOR COLORECTAL CANCER
Most adults should start colorectal cancer screening at age 45.

You may need to start earlier or be screened more often if you have:

- A personal or family history of colorectal cancer or polyps
- Inflammatory bowel disease, such as Crohn’s or ulcerative colitis
- Certain inherited conditions that increase cancer risk

Screening is a partnership between you and your health care team. If you’re unsure whether you’re due, contact your KentuckyCare provider today.
