Our Story
My initial physical therapy experience began as an athlete in high school but it wasn't until a remarkable experience I had with a physical therapist assistant treating my grandmother that I decided to become a physical therapist. My Grandma Ann was perfect in my opinion. She went to church every Sunday and yelled at the officials that made "bad calls" against me or my teammates during basketball games. She was an endless supply of food, love, and support. Sadly, when I was a junior in high school, she experienced a massive stroke. Unfortunately, the months following the stroke were filled with too many healthcare providers that did not seem to care. However, it all changed one day in April of 1994, when I watched a physical therapist assistant do something nobody else had done. He showed genuine interest and compassion for my grandma. He gave my grandma and my family HOPE. It was in that moment that I decided what I would do with my life. I would become a physical therapist and pledge to impact patients and their families in the same way.
Fast forward 23 years. I graduated from the University of Illinois and became a physical therapist in 2000, which gave me the opportunity to work with countless patients in Southern Illinois and Western Kentucky. In 2000, I also married my amazing wife Amy and we have two wonderful daughters, Jenna and Caroline. If my grandma were still living today, I think she would be proud of her grandson and Atlas Physical Therapy.
In August 2014, I was fortunate to open Atlas Physical Therapy by merging Hampton Physical Therapy and Rehab Associates, two of the largest and oldest physical therapist owned companies in Western Kentucky. These two companies have served this area for over 20 years and earned their place as the first choice for many patients and employers requiring therapy services. By combining the strength of both practices, I am fulfilling my vision that started years ago – the vision to impact patients by offering a customer service approach that is unique to the healthcare industry.
