The most common reason people stop GLP-1 medications isn't lack of effectiveness. It's side effects they weren't prepared for.
The good news: most GI side effects are dose-dependent and diet-related — which means they're manageable.
Things that help:
— Eating smaller meals, more slowly
— Avoiding high-fat or fried foods, especially early in treatment
— Staying well hydrated
— Letting your dose increase gradually, on a schedule that fits your tolerance
Sara works specifically with our patients on food strategies that help them feel better on medication. For a lot of people, that guidance is what keeps them on track when early side effects would otherwise lead them to quit.
