Laketran is offering free rides on Local Routes to make it easier for residents to get to food pantries and grocery stores while SNAP benefits are suspended.

More than 17,000 people in our community — including 6,200 children and 2,510 seniors — will be affected by this temporary suspension, and we don’t want transportation to be a barrier to accessing food.

🍎 Local Routes connect to 30+ food pantries and 11 fresh produce distributions in November.
👵 Seniors 60+ can also get free Dial-a-Ride trips through our Seniors on the GO program by calling 440-354-6100.

We’re proud to stand with our community and do what we can to make sure everyone can get where they need to go.

OPERATION SNOW LIFT FOR MENTOR SENIORS

Winters in Northeast Ohio can be unpredictable, with some seasons bringing heavy snowfall and others only a light dusting. Seniors, in particular, may find it challenging to clear their driveways during winter storms, which could result in missed essential services, such as doctor appointments, in-home care, or Meals on Wheels.

To address this issue, city officials have partnered with the Lake County Council on Aging to create and test a pilot emergency snowplowing assistance program. Operation Snow Lift is designed to support low-to-moderate-income Mentor seniors who meet specific criteria and may struggle to afford per-push snow removal services.

This program is for Mentor residents, 62 years or older, who meet the program requirements. Eligible participants will receive three (3) driveway snow removal vouchers per household for the 2025-2026 winter season.

The Operation Snow Lift Program voucher distribution will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Mentor Senior Center located at 8484 Munson Road.
