We had so much fun welcoming Girl Scout Pack 91 from Palatine to Express Yourself Pediatric Therapy this past Saturday.
A huge THANK YOU to , SLP, who did an amazing job hosting and thoughtfully planning such engaging, meaningful activities for the girls. Anne talked with them about different disabilities and explained what SLPs, OTs, and PTs do — and most importantly, how we make therapy fun.
The girls:
✨ Did oral motor activities in the kitchen with Cheerios, Goldfish, and lollipops while learning where our tongues go for different sounds
✨ Explored fine motor skills in the OT room and talked about autism, ADHD, and anxiety, including tools that help with calming and focus
✨ Tried out fidgets, Squigz, and sensory tools
✨ Crab-walked down the hallway
✨ Took on a huge obstacle course and balance activities in the gym to work on strength, coordination, and gross motor skills
We wrapped up in the vault with an important conversation about inclusion — why it matters to include kids who may be different, because even when there are challenges, everyone wants to have fun and have friends. Each girl shared one strength and one challenge, and one scout summed it up perfectly by saying:
“It was like Disneyland… but better.” 😂💫
Thank you to the scouts and leaders for spending your time with us — we loved having you and can’t wait to welcome you back!
