Sarcoidosis can look like cancer on scans—but it’s not.
This autoimmune condition causes granulomas—tiny clusters of inflammation—that can show up in your lungs, skin, liver, eyes, and joints.
I saw three sarcoidosis cases this week alone, including a young man who was told he had cancer. After a biopsy, we found it was sarcoidosis—something that we can treat with the right approach.
✅ Methotrexate is now shown to be as effective as steroids for treating pulmonary sarcoid, per a new study in the New England Journal of Medicine.
💡 We’re using methotrexate as a long-term, safer treatment option to reduce the need for steroids.
