The NEED TO KNOW epidemic, starting with Adam and Eve, continued to be demonstrated by King Saul, Job and most of us too. We have an itch, we look it up. We gotta make assumptions whether about the state of another’s heart or about sickness or dilemmas that could come our way. We must compare and infer our stories on others to make sure it doesn’t happen to us.

Media paints a picture we think explains it all.

The obsession to anticipate, to be prepared, to KNOW what isn’t yet understood…it leads to fear, comparison, deception…

God paces us with discernment, revelation, assurance peace. The world downs us with questions and proposed answers.

Only Gods discernment and lining up questions with His truth can help us feel like we know what we know. The peace comes from following that guide, the Holy Spirit, and being grounded in Gods scripture-lest we be led astray and swept away!

Kids are getting sucked down bunny trails of unmerited stress, holding agency with knowledge of things they aren’t ready to know. We already have that intrinsic motor to seek to understand. To infer and assume. To make opinions, to judge. Where will we put that desire? How will we satisfy the satiation for understanding?

“Seek first His kingdom and all else will be added unto you.” Matt 6:33

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Phil 4:6-7

One of the quickest ways to clean up conflict or resentment with self is to distinguish the DATA, the facts, of what occurred from my STORY about it (or how I interpret the event).

“When you did not respond to my request” (data), I felt mad (feeling), and my story about that is that you are ignoring me and I’m not important to you, you are selfish. (STORY/JUDGEMENT/INTERPRETATION)

🚨 Parents: We just received several more calls about children, struggling with confusion due to media influence. Young developing brains exposed to media can lead a child to deal with confusion around self esteem, eating, development, body image, substances, emotional, spiritual, sexual development and much more.

One cannot decider what they do not yet understand. Many at teen age still lack a strong sense of self to stand on. They are learning basic structures of life still.

Media is filled with false anecdotes being offered by entities who do not have kids’ best interest in mind. Companies are in fact exploiting teens and young kids for greed.

We get to curate who helps form our kids’ thinking and beliefs. We have their best interest in mind. Their well being is our responsibility and theirs alone. We guide until they self protect with discernment of their own.

We must reset media standards when not set up best for our kids.

🔁 Hit reset. As often as necessary! It happens to everyone.

We must take authority over our children and our territory.

Another piece we can control is our OWN healing and insight. This is a lifelong journey.

When parents take a personal inventory and recognize how they may contribute to systemic problems in a family, they can rebuild trust and hope with their children.

When kids see parents heal, they learned that those channels can be opened back up again.

**Real connection fulfills and brings healing.**

Families must heal as a whole. When possible, parents should be consistently on the same page.
