In this moment, there was genuine concern for the President’s safety.

Your heart was in your throat with fear that more bad was going to happen.

However, from the second he walked out of the dugout and toed the rubber, you knew he was going to throw a dime.

From there, you knew everything was going to be ok.

Without a doubt, the best sports moment of my life.

Here’s how I see it... we would all rather baseball season was happening right now..... but, it’s not.

So the next best thing is getting better for baseball. That is the opportunity that is in front of us.

The positives are:

- You can gain that extra 10lbs
- You can hit that PR that you were approaching in the gym
- You can rehab that injury a little longer
- You can learn that new pitch
- You can.... if you put the work in and believe that you can.

Find a way...
We believe in you...

Let everyone else look at the negatives.

That’s not you.

Now that we are settling in to our “new normal”, undoubtedly there will be new rules to play by and adjust to.

However, one thing that won’t change is when the lights turn back on and the gloves come back out, competition will be fierce and stronger than ever.

There will be less time to achieve your goals and a more crowded party that you are trying to break into.

This leaves you with a choice:

1. Be in the minority who will put their heads down, be creative, and find a way to get better

-or-

2. Make excuses, blame the circumstances, and live with regret once you realize your missed opportunity.

One thing is for sure, the playing field has officially been leveled and there is no guarantee or advantage.

So the only thing left to do is work and scratch and find a way to move to the front of the line.

Welcome to the Minor Leagues...you would have needed to do this eventually anyway!

Time to get started.

Athletes are commonly seen self-massaging and trying to “stretch out” the same areas everyday that get “tight” after training and/or throwing.

While this is appropriate and recommended to address areas that lack mobility or have increased stiffness following activity, we need to take things a step further.

Looking a little deeper, we can help to identify the reason WHY the athlete is putting down stress in the same spots day in and day out.

* Is movement quality poor?
* How is the program design?
* Do we need to adjust volume?
* Is the pre-throwing routine individualized and properly explained?
* Are we emphasizing recovery?

“That’s where I always feel tightness or soreness” is a common line that we hear. But, just because it’s common does not make it normal.

You don’t get credit for working hard and showing up. That is the cost of trying to excel at what you do.

Find meaning in what you are doing and try to impress yourself first. We all know that we are harder on ourselves than any coach, teammate, or parent ever could be.

So start with being consistent and impressing yourself. If you can do that, then you will not need to tell everyone else how great you are because they will already see.
