TESTOSTERONE AND HEART. DO NOT BELIEVE HEADLINES
CHECK NUMBERS YOURSELF
This Article i found on the web site Rxconsult.com titled
"Testosterone Injections and Risk of Heart Attacks, Stroke, and Death"
The article has subtitle "Clinical Studies Showing Risk of Heart related effects". It does not state Increased Risk.
The author of the article Jonah-Lynn Padigus, PharmD states that
" The study found that testosterone use was associated with a 30% increase in risk of stroke, heart attack, and death."
He then presents the numbers :
There were altogether 8709 male veterans with an average age of 60 all with risk factors for heart disease such as diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol.
1223 men were receiving testosterone therapy and 7486 men did not.
Now lets go to the results
Of 1223 men in testosterone group
67 had died - 5.4%
33 had stroke 2.7%
23 had heart attacks 1.9%
Of 7486 men not on testosterone
681 had died -9% almost twice as much than in testosterone group
486 had stroke - 6.5% - more than 2 times more than in testosterone group
420 had heart attack - 5.6% almost 3 times more than in testosterone group.
The author concludes that "The study found that testosterone use was associated with a 30% increase in risk of stroke, heart attack, and death."
I calculated and recalculated these percentages because I did not believe my eyes. But they were correct.
I do not know if this is printing error or blatant lie. But how many readers would go to all the length of calculating percentages instead of blindly believe those conclusions.

There are a few common practices people turn to when they want to relax and destress, and getting a massage is often at the top of that self-care list. For many, simply the fact that it feels good is enough to take your mind off anxiety-inducing things, not to mention that it can be a relief for some physical pain and muscle tension. But there might be a little more to it: According to some experts, one of the surprising health benefits of massage is its effect on your hormone levels.

It seems like in the last few years, there's been a lot of new information about ways to treat hormonal imbalances, like severe period symptoms, PCOS, and endometriosis with lifestyle changes such as diet and exercise. Alisa Vitti, who founded Flo Living and wrote the best-selling book Woman Code is one such champion of this theory. But how does massage fit into all this? Well, there's a two-fold reason that incorporating it into your routine could bring you some much-needed relief.

You probably could have guessed that, considering the physical discomfort some hormonal imbalance can cause, the feel-good factor can go a long way. Massages that focus on acupressure points especially can relieve muscle tension. But the power of physical touch does deeper — pun intended — than even that. "There are many proven health benefits of physical touch, like stimulation of the vagus nerve which activates the parasympathetic nervous system and turns off the 'fight or flight' mode of the sympathetic nervous system that spikes stress hormones," says Dr. Kate Denniston, naturopathic doctor at Los Angeles Integrative Health.

And that's not the only connection between hormones and massage. The lowering of your cortisol levels is another reason getting regular massage could be beneficial if you're someone who suffers from hormonal imbalances. "Dysmenorrhea, which is the medical term for painful periods, as well as endometriosis and PMS result in increased levels of stress hormones namely cortisol, epinephrine, and norepinephrine, which explains increased perception of pain, irritability, tearfulness, etc." says Dr. Mikhail Berman, a hormone specialist.

That said, it's not a cure-all. As Dr. Denniston explains, to really maximize the effects, you must also consider your other lifestyle habits. "Massage is not going to balance hormones without addressing diet, nutrient deficiencies, sleep, exercise, and the way we react to stress on a daily basis," she says. "If you're not having a bowel movement one to two times daily, your gut is likely recirculating estrogen back into the bloodstream, which contributes to estrogen dominance and symptoms like acne, irritability, and painful and heavy periods."

And Denniston adds while massages can be a great accompaniment to those changes, for lasting benefits you want it to be something you can stick to on a regular basis — and for some, this is more of a luxury practice. If you can't afford to get frequent massages, she suggests practicing mediation for some similar cortisol-lowering effects.

If you do want to up your massage practice, you've got some options. The newly opened Lifehood, which is designed around a get-one-give-one concept, offers the "Balance It" massage specifically geared towards balancing hormones with tools and techniques that have a grounding and restoring effect. Dr. Berman adds that aromatherapy can also help. "It has been shown in several studies that addition of aromatherapy to massage increases [these effects on s*x hormones]," he explains. And for more serious cases like endometriosis, Dr. Denniston recommends a very specific type of abdominal massage for potential relief. "One particular type of massage called Arvigo may help reduce adhesions or scar tissue and help align the anatomical positioning of the pelvic organs in some women," she says.

Pros and Cons of Hormone Replacement Therapy.
An article above says about a controversy surrounding Hormone Replacement Therapy. It increases and decreases frequency of breast cancer in women who used it. But not all HRT are created equal. In the studies, that were quoted in this article, researchers used standard HRT with oral (taken by mouth) Estrogen and Progestins or oral Estrogen alone. Studies show that Estrogen and Progestin therapy increases the risk of breast cancer but Estrogen alone decreases it. On top of this Estrogen therapy increases the risk of blood clots.
Anti-Aging and Functional Medicine physicians do not use that kind of treatment for 2 reasons.
Number one: we do not use progestins, which are modified molecules of hormone progesterone. Progesterone is naturally occuring hormone that is produced in ovaries and adrenal glands and therefore cannot be patented, otherwise every man and woman would be in violation of this patent. Progestins are created in an attempt to patent progesterone-like molecules that have qualities and actions different from progesterone which has protective action on breast tissues and this replacement of progesterone apparently is the reason why they cause an increase in breast cancer occurence.
On top of that progesterone is mother hormone of almost all fat-based hormones, steroids, and use of progestins causes changes in most of the hormones downstream of progesterone such as cortisol, aldosterone and others.
There is another issue with estrogen. We all understand that hormones do not belong in the stomach. And estrogen, if swallowed, first goes through the liver which creates metabolites not naturally occuring in the body. It is those substances that cause increase in blood clots. If estrogen is used in form of creams, shots or pellets and does not go through the liver first, there is no problem with clots.
Unfortunately due to the fact that most of the studies are funded by drug companies that produce medications for HRT there is very limited research done on Bio-Identical hormones, those which are identical to hormones produced in the body, because Bio-Identicals can be produced by any qualified laboratory from soy or wild yams without patent.
If you or your friends deciding on the use of HRT, I suggest BHRT, the Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy.
We, at Youth Extension Solutions exclusively use BHRT for the last 15 years.

Are you limiting butter and animal fat in favor of Coconut Oil?
Then read this. Coconut oil contains twice more saturated fat than butter.

According to some human nutrition experts coconut oil does not live up the all the hype of the health halo it has been adorned with, not that it is not better than some choices such as highly processed vegetable oils, but others may be better like olive oil. Coconut oil enjoys being touted as a heal...
