For the first time in 22 years, I walked through the hospital and it felt different. COVID patients are truly just room numbers and not that we don’t care, we just truly can’t spend the time and don’t have a lot to offer. So as these patients are isolated in their rooms alone, struggling to breathe, and begging for help…and we don’t have that miracle drug to save them except to say…”hopefully you will get better and not worse”. The nurses and staff are now getting covid, there aren’t enough staff, there is no real treatment that is for sure going to work once the symptoms are moderate-severe. And for the first time the staff just doesn’t have the energy to give 200% in trying to save a life because there are too many of them we need to save. So as they start declining, it’s just a call to families stating that there is not too much more we can offer. We would normally have 10 people in a room putting our heads together, working together to do something…. And now, there is noone in a room but maybe the nurse who can hold a hand for only a minute so she doesn’t get exposed too long and she has to rush off to the next patient. Families can’t support their loved ones because they are isolated. So these patients are just isolated in their rooms, anxious and scared praying that God will get them through. And the medical staff walks away from their shift, numb and defeated as they know they aren’t “saving lives” ….. which we always have been proud of in the past… but everyday, you leave the hospital knowing one more person has died on your shift, and you couldn’t help them. You couldn’t save them. And at the end of the day- we don’t have our country supporting us holding our hands. Instead we continue with political battles that just continue to divide the people instead of reuniting the people. I’m sad to think after 911 we rallied. After the Parkland shootings we rallied, after the hurricane, we rallied. We all held hands and fought together. But this time- we have the biggest war in my life time, that’s killing so many, and we aren’t joining forces to win the battle- we are dividing even more. We have to come together! For those who are afraid to get vaccinated- think about the people who fight for your country everyday (our soldiers, police, fireman, and today our healthcare workers). They put their lives on the line everyday for us. They would die for us… and yet each of you unvaccinated individuals won’t put your lives on the line to save someone. A soldier doesn’t refuse battle because he may die someday….he/she knows that he may die someday, and he never looks back…. He/she is there to serve. He/she has made the sacrifice. And TODAY , RIGHT NOW , WE ALL HAVE A CHANCE TO BECOME SOLDIERS. TODAY WE CANNOT RELY ON YOUR NEIGHBOR TO GET US THROUGH. NOW IS THE TIME TO JOIN FORCES TO GET OUR COUNTRY REUNITED……. AND UNFORTUNATELY THE NUMBER ONE WAY TO DO THIS IS TO GET VACCINATED. Masks and social distancing, and shutting down certainly helps…. But it’s not the answer. We can’t keep shutting down. No one will work, businesses can’t stay open. We are in a crisis and all of you are in a position to save our country. And that is to be unselfish and get vaccinated….. and if you can’t have kids some day, or even die someday from the vaccine- you will be proud to know that you saved so many other lives in taking the risk of being vaccinated! I’m begging everyone at this point…… please get vaccinated please save your. neighbor…
EVERYONE OF US CAN NOW BE A SOLDIER. OUR COUNTRY NEEDS SOLDIERS!
Mobile Medical is treating the outpatient COVID patients which is just as exhausting because we are often helpless. There is a crisis with getting oxygen in the homes and the patients are sicker in the home because they are too afraid to go to the hospital for fear of never coming home. So we are doing the best we can, but again- we are short staffed and exhausted and doing the best to be supportive through this all.
TO ALL THE HEALTHCARE WORKERS OUT THERE, PLEASE DO NOT GIVE UP. WE WILL GET THROUGH.
BE A SOLDIER!
PLEASE GET VACCINATED
And the second you test positive- get the monoclonal antibodies- they help! Which also gives you a better chance to not end up in the hospital.
