Let's talk Radiation....
1. Radiation Dose:
The average radiation dose from a screening mammogram is about 0.4 millisieverts (mSv) per breast. This is equivalent to about 7 weeks of natural background radiation. For comparison, a chest X-ray delivers about 20 mSv.
2. Benefits vs. Risks:
The benefits of early breast cancer detection through mammograms far outweigh the potential risks of radiation exposure. Studies have shown that regular mammograms can reduce breast cancer deaths by up to 40%. The radiation dose from a mammogram is carefully regulated and monitored to ensure it is as low as possible.

Mammograms use a small amount of radiation that is considered safe and necessary for early breast cancer detection. The benefits of mammograms in preventing breast cancer deaths significantly outweigh the potential risks. It is important to discuss the risks and benefits of mammograms with a healthcare professional to make an informed decision about screening.

Breast Cancer Month is upon us! Remember now and always prevention is key. Get your Manmogram done every year.
