Register today and join Next Chapter Support Services for our Life Skills Workshop on Social Communication! This session is specially designed for individuals 18 and older with Autism and related intellectual and developmental disabilities who want to build confidence, strengthen communication skills, and connect with others in a supportive environment.
Workshop topics include:
-How to start and end conversations comfortably and politely
-Understanding the difference between friends, acquaintances, and strangers
-Recognizing verbal and non‑verbal signs that someone wants to continue a conversation—or may need space
-Maintaining balanced, two‑way conversations
-Practicing pausing to support clearer communication and reduce anxiety
-Understanding body‑language cues such as posture, eye gaze, and hand movements
Participants will also practice a “lunchtime conversation”, so everyone is encouraged to bring their favorite lunch along for this hands‑on activity! (Refreshments will also be served)
