As a clinical pharmacist, I perform a complete evaluation and assessment of a patient's medication therapy. I do this in coordination with their clinical conditions and lifestyle.

For people who have more than one clinical condition or disease state, take multiple medications and are under the care of moe than one physician, Medication Therapy Management may provide a significant benefit. I perform a complete analysis and assessment of a patient's entire medication use. I do it in coordination with their clinical conditions and lifestyle. In that way, I look at the whole patient and not only their medications. I provide two detailed reports, one for you and one for your physicians, with recommendations designed to improve your medication therapy.

The healthcare environment is dynamic and constantly evolving, particularly in the area of the COVID-19 virus and its treatment. The core of my activities continues to be providing Medication Therapy Management to patients with more than one clinical condition who take multiple medications daily. I have been a guest on several podcasts speaking about my work, reporting on current trends with the virus and sharing information about the treatment of dementia and current research in that field. Links to these podcasts will be posted shortly. I am also involved with an organization dedicated to fall prevention in seniors as a contributor, describing how certain medications can increase a person's risk for falls and strategies for reducing the risk. We have done several Zoom presentations for groups and healthcare organizations. A more specialized area of my practice is providing research and expert opinion to law firms in cases that focus on medication events and potential harm to patients. I am also becoming involved with COVID-19 clinical trials preparing medications under study for patients who currently have a positive diagnosis. I am readily available to assist with a variety of patient and caregiver needs and can be reached by phone or email. Arthurwernick@gmail.com 727-451-9343

My Clinical Pharmacy research now extends to providing services to law firms and their clients. I help determine if a client was put at risk or harmed by adverse drug reactions, drug interactions or as a result of being dispensed the wrong medication.
My work is thorough: My assessments are accompanied by references to published clinical literature and can be written in both layman's terms and technical medical terms. I adhere to federal HIPAA privacy guidelines and am recommended by The American Association of Justice, List Servers.

Drugs often have side effects! Many know that all too well. Side effects, or adverse drug reactions are often impossible to predict. Sometimes they are minor and sometimes they can make you feel worse than you did before you took the medication. In addition to that, when you are taking more than one medication, you may experience a drug-drug interaction. This occurs when two different drugs, in combination with your body's chemistry, create a reaction that would not be expected with either drug alone. A simple example is taking two medications that can cause drowsiness. The combination can result in twice as much drowsiness which then may make it difficult for you to accomplish everyday tasks. Another example is when two different medications taken together result in one medication offsetting the effect of the other, or EACH offsetting the other! In that case, the intended effect of one or both of the medications is lost.
These are the typical problems that I discover, analyze and set out to resolve, so that you get the maximum benefit of your medication therapy.
