Hope everyone is staying safe out there! 💨 🌬️🙏🏽 This windstorm was and is no joke - Alaskans are tough.

Guess what? Another way to stay warm if your power/heating is out…Movement! 😆💪🏽♥️

If the family has wiggle bugs and scratching at the walls, set up a fun movement circuit. Make it fun and guaranteed to get you warm!

An example:
🌟squats or sit to stands
🌟jumping jacks or high knee marches
🌟floor push ups or counter push ups
🌟bent over rows
🌟deadlifts to overhead press

* use whatever you have for weight, get creative and modify *

The goal is to just move to stay safe, healthy and warm! 💪🏽

GET AKTIVE. STAY AKTIVE.
~We can help! ~
Great article with the various benefits and importance of exercise to help us, especially with aging. Quality of life, longevity, safety, independence, the list is endless. 💪🏽

“When you do resistance or strength training, very important chains of molecules that relay signals between cells are affected, and these changes linger in the body for hours after exercise, building up a cumulative, positive effect. Even a low-intensity strength and walking program has substantial benefits.”

Read about how NIA-funded researchers are seeking to better understand how strength training may contribute to healthier bodies as we age.

⛄️ ⛷️ Alaska is unique in that our seasons of Summer and Winter are extreme. We understand that not everyone shares the same enthusiasm for winter activities. However, don't let the upcoming Winter season compromise your fitness! There's shoveling to be done, health to maintain and maybe a snowman to be built!

☃️ ⛷️While we've earned the right to slow down a bit and recoup from our long Summer days, it's essential to keep moving. This is an excellent opportunity to reassess and adjust our programs, activities and workouts to accommodate the season and prevent burnout.

☃️ ⛷️Avoid sustaining back or shoulder injuries from shoveling and stay proactive to ensure you're in shape for Spring activities and chores next year. We excel at providing guidance and support to help you plan a program tailored to your needs this Winter.
