😔Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death in Alaska, but we can change that. The decision to quit smoking is one that only you can make. Quitting may not be easy, but you can do it with the right support. 🫁The American Cancer Society has amazing resources we want to share:
✅ First, Pick a Quit Date — November 20th, The Great American Smoke Out is a great one!
✅ Get free quit-support from the American Cancer Society Visit cancer.org/smokeout to start the journey.
✅ Encourage a friend or loved one to do the same
Together, we can create a future with healthier lungs and fewer lives lost to lung cancer right here in Alaska. It’s never too late to quit smoking.

🇺🇸Today, we proudly honor Anthony Short, our Lead Radiation Therapist, for his service to our nation and his ongoing dedication to the patients and families of the Mat-Su Valley community. His continued devotion to helping others embodies the true spirit of Veterans Day, a reminder that service doesn’t end when the mission changes.🎖️Thank you, Anthony, for your bravery, your service, and your steadfast care for those you serve each day.
❤️🤍💙
The Mat-Su region is home to one of Alaska’s largest veteran communities, and many of those same heroes come through our doors for cancer care. It is a privilege to serve them, just as they have served our country with courage and commitment. Happy Veterans Day to all who served.🇺🇸

🫁“We used to think lung cancer only affected smokers. Today, up to 20% of people diagnosed have never smoked. Radon exposure, wildfire smoke, and secondhand smoke all play a role, especially in Alaska.” -Dr. Michael Green, AROC Radiation Oncologist

🎗November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month. Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer death in both Alaska and the United States, but it doesn’t have to be. When found early, lung cancer is one of the most treatable cancers.

🩵A low-dose CT scan can detect lung cancer before symptoms appear. Early detection isn’t just medical, it’s personal. It saves lives.

Happy National Radiologic Technology Week!

In honor of National Radiologic Technology Week (NRTW), Healthworks sends our sincere thanks and deep appreciation to everyone working in the radiologic technology field, making valuable contributions to patient care. The NRTW 2025 theme—The Kaleidoscope of Radiologic Technology—celebrates the diverse practice areas and medical procedures within the radiologic technology field.

Fun fact: NRTW’s dates (November 2-8) align with Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen’s discovery of the X-Ray on November 8, 1895.
