Hello all, my name is Kitty Lakey and I am a Licensed Midwife, Certified Professional Midwife, Certified Lactation Counselor, mom of two teens, wife, ISFJ-T, Hufflepuff, and sci-fi aficionado. I appreciate the strong emphasis placed on bodily autonomy, consent, and evidence-based care that the midwifery model of care provides. I graduated from The Florida Traditional School of Midwifery in 2017 and I have been practicing in the surrounding midwifery community since graduating.

“I would never have a homebirth.”

And that’s okay.
It’s not for everyone.

Just because I choose something…
doesn’t mean I’m trying to convince everyone else to do the same.

Because at the end of the day,
the most important thing during labor
is being where YOU feel comfortable.

That might be a hospital.
That might be at home.
That might be in a birth center.

Birth isn’t one size fits all.
It’s personal.
It’s sacred.
It’s yours.

So whatever you choose?
I hope it’s where you feel safe. 🤍
Where you feel supported.
Where you feel peace.

That’s what truly matters.

Some (around 15%) surgical births are needed. Which means we are doing 20% TOO MANY. Folks (especially the moms who consent to surgical birth) don't realize the damage that is being done to them and their babies.
