Progress can be messy and that doesn’t mean therapy or you are failing. 💗

Kids will have off days for real reasons: changes in routine, poor sleep, sickness, sensory overload, big feelings, growth spurts, or even learning a brand-new skill (new skills can look like regression before they stick!).

What to look for instead of a perfect upward line:
✨ more quick recoveries
✨ fewer big meltdowns over time
✨ using a strategy with help, then independently
✨ trying again after getting frustrated

If today felt like two steps back, you’re still on the path. Keep going!

What we wish every parent knew… “late talker” doesn’t always mean “just wait.” 💗

Some kids do catch up on their own, but early support can make a huge difference, and it never hurts to get a professional opinion.

Here are a few green flags vs. let’s check in signs:

Your child isn’t using many gestures (pointing, waving, showing) by ~12 months
Limited babbling/sounds or they’re unusually quiet
They don’t seem to respond to name consistently
They get frustrated often because they can’t communicate needs
Speech is hard to understand compared to kids their age

✨ Early help can support:
First words + combining words
Understanding directions
Social connection + play skills
Reducing tantrums by giving them better ways to communicate

If you’re ever unsure, trust your gut. You don’t need to “wait it out” to ask questions. 💛
