We had a PLAY WITH CLAY DAY IN MAY, and these new potters finally picked up their finished pieces. They turned out beautiful for 1 first- time potter, 1 that did ceramics back in the 90s and one that already went thru my training.

Summer kiln firings are tough, it's already hot and the kiln gets pretty hot during the 4 hour firing and 24 hour cooll down, so the air conditioning runs longer. BUT, I get to witness the magic of clay again when I open the lid. Had a couple orders and had fun filling the rest of the kiln with fun projects.

When someone orders a few pieces, I try to fill the kiln with 'whatever' pops in my head, so like Forrest Gump said, "you never know what you're gonna get". An 'odds & ends' batch appeared this morning as I opened the kiln lid. A few items that I can't show b/c they are a surprise delivery to IN, a preview of an upcoming cow-themed family reunion, a scrubby frog holder, sunflower planter, butterfly African violet pot, lacey dish.

24 hours waiting for the kiln to cool down is just too long. Fired it up last night, so had to keep busy today while waiting. Ran to Lebanon, then had an appt in Frederick MD. Finally got home at 6pm to open the lid and visit with my new creations.

I ❤️ KILN UNVEILING PARTIES!! Well, is really just me, but feels like a party to me! Some of these beauties are for cousin Mary the African Violet QUEEN, a few for gifts, one will get shipped to Indiana, and what's left will go to my table at the **1st Annual Jonestown Fall Festival** on Oct 12. Kiln opening tonight!! Yeah!! A few more of my new lace collection, a 'splatter' bowl, some butterflies, frog, jeans and cats, and a donation for a Christmas Fest on Dec. 7 at the Palmyra Church of the Brethren craft fair.
