Winter can take a toll on mental health, especially with shorter days, less sunlight, and the pressures of a new semester.

We’re sharing a powerful blog written by Brynne, a member of CHC’s Teen Collaborative, created in partnership with Challenge Success’s Student Advisory Board. Together, CHC teens and student leaders from Challenge Success are elevating youth voice and sharing real strategies to support student well-being.

From self-care and journaling to minimizing social media and hosting “board” nights with friends, Brynne offers practical, teen-informed tips to help manage stress and boost mood during the winter months.

This piece is a reminder that student perspectives matter and that small, intentional habits can make a meaningful difference.

No templates. No step-by-step instructions. Just imagination and initiative.

Our students designed and built their own mini golf courses using cardboard, imagination, and the materials around them.

From Minecraft and Hello Kitty themes to math-inspired challenges and restaurant replicas, each course reflected the unique interests and strengths of its creator.

Hands-on, student-driven learning in action. đź’š

Exploring Science Through Hands-On Learning 🧪

Students at Esther B. Clark School recently participated in a guided frog dissection as part of their science studies. This structured, hands-on experience supported their understanding of anatomy and how body systems work together.

With teacher guidance, students practiced observation, critical thinking, and scientific inquiry in a supportive classroom environment.

Experiences like this are one of the many ways students engage with science at EBC, building understanding through active exploration and thoughtful discussion.

Once a Stingray, always a Stingray đź’š

SHS welcomed alumni back to campus for a special panel with our current students. They shared honest reflections about their high school transitions, offered advice, and answered thoughtful questions.

We’re so proud of our alumni and grateful for the encouragement and perspective they brought back to our Stingray community.

Why does body doubling work?

Your brain mirrors what it sees. When you observe someone concentrating, your own brain is more likely to stay regulated and engaged. That’s social learning in action.

For many ADHD and neurodivergent learners, body doubling can support task initiation, reduce distractions, and make everyday responsibilities feel more manageable.

A quick check-in can tell you a lot.

Noticing how social media affects mood, focus, or energy before, during, and after scrolling can help families understand what supports well-being and what does not. This approach focuses on awareness over time, not strict rules or perfection.
