This Women’s History Month, we honor Dr. Esther B. Clark, founder of Children’s Health Council, whose work continues to shape lives far beyond her time.

Dr. Clark believed that every child should be understood as a whole person, not defined by behavior, diagnosis, or milestones. That belief did not stay in the room. It stayed with the children and families she cared for.

Today, her impact can be seen in the lives of those she once supported, who now carry that same perspective into their own work with children and families.

What Dr. Clark created was not only an institution. She set in motion a way of seeing and supporting children that continues to be practiced, shared, and passed on across generations.

Happy International Women’s Day to the leaders, caregivers, and changemakers who carry that legacy forward every day.

AI isn’t going away – but how kids use it matters.

In this episode of Voices of Compassion, AI expert Kerrie Holley shares a simple framework for parents and educators:
✔️ AI can explain, not answer for them
✔️ AI can help brainstorm, not submit work
✔️ AI can support learning, not replace it

🎧 Listen to the full conversation on how families can guide kids through the age of AI with curiosity, critical thinking, and clear values.

Students at Sand Hill School, marked Pi Day with a scavenger hunt built right into their meal tickets. As they followed clues, they learned fun facts about the famous number π and how it is used by mathematicians to calculate and measure the world around us.

The activity ended with a fitting reward. Pizza pie, apple pie, and a lot of smiles.
Learning about Pi has never tasted so good.

What if the challenges your child experiences in school are actually signals pointing toward how they learn best?

Learning differences often show up in subtle ways. A student may struggle to organize ideas, follow multi-step directions, or stay engaged with schoolwork. With the right support these moments can become opportunities for growth.

At Sand Hill School, students receive personalized instruction in a supportive environment designed for diverse learners. Our goal is simple. Help each student understand how they learn and build the confidence to succeed.

Last week we welcomed community members, partners, and families to our Laneview Campus Open House in San Jose. It was a great evening connecting with the community and sharing how Children’s Health Council is expanding support for children, teens, and families in the South Bay.

Guests toured the campus, met the CHC team, and learned more about Esther B. Clark School at our Laneview campus. Thank you to Council Member David Cohen for co-hosting and serving as MC. We’re excited to be part of the Berryessa community and look forward to what’s ahead.
