Looking to hire an LCPC for my private practice. Some clients are hiking clients, so must be able to hike and talk. I need someone fun, energetic, compassionate, and not too caught up in "by the book" therapy. We are a practice of independent thinking, active, therapists who do what's right for our clients and build relationships based on trust, empathy, allowing space to be yourself, and humor. Lots and lots of humor! Please reach out to bstevenson@hykelyfe.com or 708.480.2066 (texting preferred as I'm on maternity leave) if interested. Feel free to check out our website at

You don’t have to feel alone anymore. In therapy, you can share your struggles with someone who will listen and guide without judgement or shame.

Hey guys! I'm looking for an LCPC that is credentialed at least with BCBS PPO to work with me. I can help with paneling for other insurance companies. I need someone who is a go-getter, who loves the outdoors, who is active and able to hike/walk around 3-9 miles per day. The position will be contracted, a 1099 will be put into place. Building your client base may take patience, but all of my focus will be on building your book of business right from the start. My office is in Palos Heights, IL. Please let me know if you or someone you know is interested. 708.480.2066. Or forward a Resume and Curriculum Vitae to bstevenson.counseling@gmail.com.

Many times when we feel something, we believe it to be true. And in certain instances, this is a really good thing. Trusting your gut can be the difference between life and death. However, if you find yourself talking down about you inside your head, you may need a reminder that feelings are not facts. Just because you feel like a bad friend because you forgot your buddy's birthday, does not mean that you are a bad friend. It just means you messed up. You're human. You need to own what happened, apologize, make it right, and move on. We have a tendency to interpret negative self talk as a concrete feeling/thought. Please do yourself a favor and break this habit. One way to do that is to find evidence to back yourself up. If you say, "man, I'm so stupid" after you fail a test, ask yourself, "what's the evidence?" The failed test, yes. Anything else? Maybe a few things. Now challenge!! "Do I have any evidence that I'm NOT stupid?" If you look hard enough, I would guess there's more support for this claim than the other. Feelings aren't facts. Say it again. Feelings aren't facts.

A support system is one of the most important things you can build for yourself. Whether it's family, friends, professionals, online communities, people with similar hobbies/interests, clubs, groups, etc., make sure you have some people to lean on when you cannot face the sun.

Saw this quote. Loved this quote. Relationships take effort. Don't blame your partner for your refusal to work towards a better relationship, every day. Even when things suck. Even when you hate them. If you both allow your effort to be the most prominent thing in your relationship, your relationship will be the priority and will thrive. For those of you in the back: YOUR RELATIONSHIP SHOULD BE THE PRIORITY. Not you. Not your friends. Not your family. Your relationship. This doesn't mean you don't matter or that you don't put self care and yourself first in health, both mental and physical. This doesn't mean you don't go out with your girlfriends or have guys nights. This doesn't mean you isolate yourself from family and lose who you are. I'm not talking about abusive relationships. I'm talking about healthy ones. Healthy ones where your partner encourages you to have your own life and take care of yourself because your partner puts your relationship first. Get it? Put in the effort. It'll be worth it.

Don't underestimate the power of your own resiliency. There are so many things that have happened in my life that I wasn't ready for. But, I was obviously built for it. Take a look back at your life. Find peace in your strength. Be shocked by what you're built to withstand. You're amazing.
