I'm playing with this idea of growing most of my produce this spring/summer/fall/winter ;) and hopefully a medicinal garden. But really flipping through seed catalogs is like window shopping. I had this moment today... What actually are your staples for the garden? One of mine is braising mix...I know I'll eat that by the bucketful. Herbs are so hard to narrow down. Yarrow for sure.

Those prairie winds blow in and I know why there's a ton of old movies about the wind driving people crazy :)

Really on the Palouse I embrace the wind as a positive, cleansing force. In Chinese Medicine the focus on wind is often negative - focusing on its pathogenic and evil properties.

Here I listen to my wind chimes and feel the wind taking away the old and bringing new adventures.

Not all herbs are medicinal because they are taken internally - many are all about smell. Sweet grass is something that lingers in the air and brings on a gentle sigh. This winter I have some in pots that I'm eager to put outside in the spring.
