Dad wrote this brief history in 1986 when I purchased the funeral home. Things were different in his Dad’s day. We don’t embalm in the deceased home anymore, or stay with a family in the country for days until the service is completed. I’m glad for that! I do abhor the industrialization and consolidation of what was once a very necessary personal service, rendered by a families you know.

The recent extreme temperatures took out the computer switch for the exterior lights at the funeral home. Thanks for the concern, the parts are on order. It seems the heat really does a hardship on these components. The bright flashing advertising signs in my neighborhood have suffered in this summer’s heat.

41 years ago today July 7. I received my Professional Licenses for Funeral Director and Embalmer. I am the forth licensed funeral director in the Kennedy family after my father, uncle and grandfather. We are family owned and operated since 1903, and anticipating our fourth generation of family service very soon, go Lucy.
