Posture matters

Tilting your head to look at your phone is like hanging a weight from your neck.

Looking down at your phone may seem harmless, but the angle at which you tilt your head can drastically increase the strain on your neck.

A neutral head position places about 5 kg of pressure on your cervical spine, but even a slight forward tilt multiplies that load.

At just 15 degrees, the force rises to 12 kg; at 30 degrees, it jumps to 18 kg; and by 60 degrees, your neck is supporting the equivalent of 27 kg—the weight of an average 8-year-old child.

This added pressure can contribute to muscle strain, neck pain, and long-term postural issues.

Often referred to as "tech neck," this condition is increasingly common due to prolonged smartphone and device use. Over time, the unnatural angle can lead to disc degeneration, nerve pain, and even curvature of the spine.

Low back feeling tight this morning? A little movement goes a long way. Here’s a quick and easy stretch you can do anywhere to loosen up your lower back and start your week feeling better.

✨ Quick Low Back Stretch: The Knee-to-Chest Hold
1. Lie on your back.
2. Pull one knee toward your chest.
3. Hold for 20–30 seconds.
4. Switch sides.
5. Repeat 2–3 times.

This simple stretch helps relieve pressure in the lumbar spine, improves circulation to the low back muscles, and reduces stiffness from sitting or sleeping wrong.
