Jenny update!🤩

She is 11 weeks post-op! Look at the fun activities she is doing now👀

•She is now back to work and getting used to more activity and being on her feet for hours at a time

•Her range of motion has improved to ~110 degrees and she is maintaining well with treatment and consistent exercise at home. She currently has more range of motion than she did prior to surgery!

• She still has intermittent pain, but the intensity is gradually decreasing

•We are working on quadriceps strengthening, balance, and higher level activities

✅ Range of motion continues to normalize

✅ Gait pattern and independence is improving - she walks without a cane at home and uses one when in the community

✅ Treatment this week has been focused on single leg stability and weight bearing activities

✅ Working on incorporating activities on uneven surfaces (BOSU ball/foam pad)

So much improvement in just a few weeks!

Jenny’s TKA progress: Week 4💪🏽

Rehab focus: Emphasize weight bearing tolerance, quadriceps strength, and range of motion

✅Range of motion: 105 degrees of knee flexion

✅Pain level: 4/10. She ends each treatment with ice and Estim 🤩

✅Gait: She walks short distance without a cane and longer distance with a cane.

✅ Her quadriceps strength is improving. She still has some difficulty fully extending her knee with a straight leg raise(standing and laying down), but this has improved significantly!

✅ Able to perform full revolutions on the bike, wall squat, leg press, and step ups now 👏🏼

Jenny’s TKA rehabilitation: Weeks 2 and 3 💪🏽

👉🏼Rehab focus these weeks: Emphasize range of motion, walking pattern, and quadriceps control🚶‍♀️

✅Range of Motion: 100 degrees of knee flexion. She can reach full knee extension with a manual stretch.

✅Gait: She is now walking with a cane at most times. Using a cone drill to promote equal step length.

✅ Quadriceps strength is slowly improving - she is able to perform a standing straight leg raise now!

✅Performing sit to stands from a low mat with equal weight bearing on both legs

Jenny’s progress: Week 1 post-operative💪🏻
- Knee range of motion: 90 degrees 👏🏼
- Pain and swelling present
- Using a rolling walker
- Limited quadriceps strength/recruitment. She initially had difficulty performing an active standing straight leg raise and seated knee extensions
- Using ice packs and elevating her leg at home as well as gentle range of motion stretching at home
- Attending PT 3x/week
