20-20-20 RULE
YOUR EYES WILL THANK YOU
Digital devices are here to stay.
The more time kids spend in front of iPads, televisions, computers, smartphones and gaming devices, the harder their eyes have to work.
Digital eye strain is uncomfortable & leads to…
~poor sleep quality
~poor school performance
~cognitive delays
~lack of physical activity
~blurry vision
20-20-20 rule- For every 20 minutes looking at a screen, have your child look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds. The 20-20-20 rule can help exercise eyes and reduce strain.
It allows eyes to change focus.
This break is a good time to blink as during screen time blinking is reduced to 5 per minute rather than 12 per minute away from screens.
