Hi, I'm Mary M Garcia, LIMHP, LPC and I can't wait to meet you. Stepping out and sharing your story can feel scary. You are brave and courageous.
"My mission is to convey love and compassion and connect with you to bring understanding and hope to motivate you toward improved knowledge, health, and wellness”
~Mary M Garcia, LIMHP, LPC I understand this feeling and want you to know it is healthy to reach out. I have faith in the counseling process and the small steps that can lead you to lasting reward and renewed hope that things will and do change. Individuals, couples and families can benefit from therapy for many life situations. Together we will develop a plan to move forward whether it is grief, anxiety, a traumatic event, anger, depression, parenting struggles, premarital, marital, life transitions or other concerns. I hold membership in the American Counseling Association, Nebraska Counseling Association, and the American Association of Christian Counselors to bring you the most current knowledge. My bachelor's degree in Family Science from the University of Nebraska of Lincoln at Omaha has given me a solid foundation to understand family systems. In my twenty years of working with children, adolescents, adults and families I have utilized techniques to aid in parenting and social skills, anger management, coping and relaxation strategies. As I continued to dive deeper in the field I was called for continued study and knowledge to serve individuals, families and couples in a different capacity as a counselor. I began my journey of my master's degree at Grace University and upon its closure I completed it at Crown College. As my mission continues to unfold I am ready and on fire to serve you as a Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner and Licensed Professional Counselor. My mission is to convey love and compassion and connect with you to bring understanding and hope to motivate you towards improved knowledge, health and wellness. I am here to hold space for you and truly hear your struggle and how it may be impacting you. I utilize evidence based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy with emphasis on emotion focused and attachment theory. My primary goal is to help you accomplish your goal. Take the first step by calling me to see if I am the right fit for you and/or your family.

This time of year can feel heavy. Sometimes, we have to search for the beauty. Yet at other times we remember to look up and there it is.
Whether this season feels warm and comforting or perhaps a little cold, rushed, and challenging, please remember: you matter.
I'm truly grateful for every one of you.
Please take a moment to lean in, pause, and find the beauty and peace. Reflect on how far you've come. Rest, reset, and then keep moving forward - one step at a time. ✨

What does it feel like to start Professional Counseling?
Great question!
It might feel scary or exciting at first to reach out and show up for the first initial session. For another person different feelings or thoughts may come up. That's completely normal.
You show up and decide what we work on. You decide the goals you would like to accomplish. We walk together towards those goals.
It should begin to feel safe in this space. You should feel heard and understood here. This space is held for you during each session. This space is yours to share, express, and work towards healing.
It is not magic or easy but can feel sacred, calming, and healing. It might also at times feel stressful and emotionally hard. Yet we walk together in this space towards healing. You get to lead the way.
The goal is to take the work you are doing inside therapy and transfer it outside of this space. To make it a part of your day to day. This happens one step at a time. As each step and day grows that's when healing can happen.
Healing happens. One purposeful step at a time.

We are allowed to rest.
We are allowed to reconnect.
We are allowed to breathe.
It doesn't require the ocean, just time set aside.
Reconnect with those you love.
Reconnect with God.
Reconnect with yourself.
Now go do it!

Hi! I wanted to take some time today to tell you what you do matters. It matters a whole lot! Not only to me but to your mental health. Let’s all take some time to pause, think about, and then write down what brings in the light. What are you thankful for today? What brings you joy?
✨ Your dog?
✨ A sunrise?
✨ Your mom?
✨ God?
✨ A friend?
✨ Fall leaves?
✨ A special memory?
✨ Walking?
✨ A coffee?
✨ Flowers?
✨ Your cat?
✨ A fuzzy blanket?
✨ Sunshine?
✨ The mountains?
When our thoughts are all over the place let’s pause, reset, and relax our bodies and be purposeful.
I am so very thankful to get the privilege to walk with each of you. Feel free to add yours in the comments! Praying for you and for increased peace today and always. 💛
