It took 3,646 days, 4 hours, and 14 minutes to finish what I started.
But the real win? It was showing up at the start — fully present, grounded, and ready to reclaim a moment I lost nearly a decade ago.

In 2015, I crashed during this race. I was unconscious for 18 minutes and broke most of the bones on the right side of my face. That race was never finished — until now.

I returned not to prove something, but to be with myself in every step. This time, I stayed present — in the cold water, on the steep climbs, and through every quiet moment between.

You don’t have to do it alone, either.
Ask for help. Accept the love. Do it with friends.

And when you’re ready… show up.
The finish is the bonus. The miracle is in the start.

10 years later. Same race. .This time, I write the ending

In exactly one week, I will dive into the cold waters of San Francisco with 2,000 others to finish a race I began 9 years, 11 months, and 25 days ago.

In 2015, I crashed on the bike course of the triathlon. I was unconscious for 18 minutes and broke most of the bones on the right side of my face — along with other serious injuries. That moment paused everything. My racing, my rhythm, and a part of my identity.

It took years to get back on the bike . And now, after months of focused training, deep healing, and quiet moments of doubt and courage, I’m ready.

But this isn’t just about crossing a finish line. It’s about honoring the journey, reclaiming a moment, and proving that time doesn’t close the chapter — you do.

My intention for race day is simple: to be fully present, to feel every step, to soak in the moment, and to smile as much as I can.

As my friend .ann.atkinson said, “You get to rewrite your story ”
And that’s what I’m setting out to do — not just for me, but to remind anyone who needs it.

You are never too far, too broken, or too late to begin again — and write the ending that’s always been yours.
