Lakeshore Drive from M‑123 to Salt Point Road is now passable.

Please use caution, as blowing and drifting snow may still be present in some areas.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

03/17/2026

Please be advised that Lakeshore Drive from M‑123 to Salt Point is CLOSED due to heavy blowing and drifting snow. Drifts are currently 8–10 feet across the roadway in some areas. Our crews are working to get the road opened, but the high winds are not working in our favor at this time. We appreciate your patience and ask that you avoid this area until further notice for your safety.

Attention:
It appears that this storm is going to be quite an event and that the forecasters have hit the mark. Our weather will be ramping up shortly after noon today. Please be assured we are watching conditions carefully and are responding to conditions as they develop. We recommend people stay home and avoid travel unless absolutely necessary. Once snowfall intensity exceeds a couple inches per hour combined with high winds, travel will become very difficult in the windswept areas and whiteout conditions will be widespread. If anyone becomes snowed in and is experiencing a medical emergency they should call 911. We coordinate with the emergency crews to get to people in need when those situations arise.

Our community is used to the Road Commission being able to cover each mile every day; with a storm of this magnitude that may not be the case. Our equipment has been worked hard since November and this event will tax it even further, breakdowns and delays are going to be inevitable. We ask people to be patient and allow us time to do our work.

The interstate and the "M" routes will have first priority, then our primary county roads and then the local roads will get done as manpower and equipment allows.

If you become stuck and stranded in a vehicle on the roadway, call 911 and inform them of your location. They can then relay that info to our drivers so they know to look for a hazard and avoid a collision.

Please be safe and stay home if possible.
