Emily is a Licensed Master Social Worker, passionate about helping people feel seen, supported, and empowered. Her clinical experience includes working with clients across all stages of life—children, adolescents, and adults—helping them navigate emotional, behavioral, and relational challenges in a grounded, compassionate environment. She has provided support in school-based settings, outpatient therapy, and crisis intervention, allowing her to bring a well-rounded and responsive approach to each client she serves.

Emily specializes in Equine Assisted Psychotherapy which blends evidence-based mental health approaches with the intuitive, grounding presence of horses to guide clients toward emotional healing, deeper self-awareness, and renewed confidence. This unique approach focuses on helping individuals reconnect with themselves, heal emotional wounds, and build resilience through the transformative partnership between humans and horses.

She integrates evidence-based modalities—including Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Strengths-Based approaches—into her sessions, both in and outside the office. Through her practice, Emily helps clients process stress, depression, anxiety, and life transitions while building self-awareness, emotional regulation, and inner strength. Her approach is gentle, intuitive, and client-centered, offering a space where individuals can slow down, breathe deeply, and rediscover themselves- with a horse by their side.

Emily completed her Master’s of Social Work at Arkansas State University in 2021 before pursuing advanced training in Equine Assisted Psychotherapy through the University of Denver in 2022. Growing up with horses shaped much of who she is today—she spent most of her life competing in barrel racing and rodeos, developing not only riding skills but a deep appreciation for the emotional presence and partnership horses offer.

Her mission is to provide a safe, nurturing environment where individuals can explore their emotions, recognize their strengths, and experience healing—whether through the gentle partnership of horses or within her in-town office setting. She is committed to supporting each person in developing deeper self-understanding, emotional balance, and renewed hope. She welcomes the opportunity to walk alongside you on your healing journey, offering care both in the office and through equine-assisted sessions.

🇺🇸 Honoring Our Heroes 🇺🇸

Today, we pause to honor the courage, sacrifice, and service of all who have worn the uniform. Your strength and dedication inspire us every day.

At Retrospect Counseling PLLC, this day holds special meaning — our owner, Doug Strickland, proudly served in the U.S. Army. We’re grateful for his service and for the service of all veterans who continue to make a difference in our communities.
