It's ok to do things just because you enjoy them. The to-do list can wait a little while. Play, create, laugh, revel, wonder, rest. You need these things to feel human. 🤍

You know this in your head, but does your heart believe it? At some point, the Pinterest version of reality became the expectation. That life is unattainable and, honestly, oppressive. Real life and real people are simple and often messy. Let go of the picture-perfect ideal. It's not ideal.

Anxiety is everywhere these days. Part of the reason must lie in the incessant noise that fills our days. We absolutely must make it a priority to give our minds times of silence and reflection.

It may seem like humility, but at the root of people pleasing lies pride. It means you're allowing your thoughts and energy to be consumed with making everyone else think highly of you. It's actually a self-centered way of functioning. Instead, use your time focusing on pleasing God. Ironically, that's the true way to really impact others and to throw off the weight of maintaining an image.

Have you heard that science that says when we let our minds go down a certain path repeatedly, that path gets stronger and deeper, so that it becomes the natural, immediate place our thoughts go. It's like running water, creating a groove in the earth that over time turns into a trench, attracting all the water.
This can be good news or bad news. When we're stuck on paths that lead to fear, we have do some work to make a change. We have to be intentional about creating new paths in our brains and directing our thoughts down those until they become the trench where water can run. Then our old, negative trenches can dry up, and the positive path is the the route our minds intrinsically take.
Put good things in on purpose. Think on them. Choose those thoughts until your mind chooses them for you.

If you're not experiencing discomfort, you're refusing to engage. You're skirting around anything that might be hard...or rewarding. It's time to stop avoiding and start living.

All that really matters is connection with God and others. The rest is expendable. Why do we so often treat it like it's the other way around?

In just about every situation, there are things you wish were different. If you get in a rut of focusing on the negative, you'll train your brain to go there automatically. To get out of the rut, you have to retrain yourself to notice the good instead. Because it's there. You decide what you'll see.
