Friday Social Work Spotlight! 🌻💛
Social work isn’t just a profession, it’s a mindset that stays with you, no matter where your career takes you. In this spotlight, we’re highlighting Eden Weiss, LCSW, whose social work roots continue to shape the way they show up every day.
Get to know more about Eden and her profession:
You’re not currently in a social work role, but we know that’s a mindset that never goes away. What’s the most “social worker” thing you still do out of pure habit?
Social Workers are trained to recognize systems, patterns, and person-centered needs, so many of our habits naturally carry over beyond the workplace. Some “classic social work” tendencies I find myself doing include checking in on people - even those I don’t know well - by asking, “how are you really doing?” and genuinely caring about the answer. There’s also that built-in advocacy reflex, quietly recognizing when something isn’t right and feeling compelled to step in and offer support.
What does it mean to uplift a senior, and how is that different from simply helping them?
Helping a senior meets a need, but uplifting a senior goes a step further - it honors their dignity, empowers them, and ensures they feel seen and valued.
What’s one phrase you use daily that should really be on a T‑shirt?
“Let’s make a plan.”
What do you enjoy most about working with the senior generation?
At the heart of it all, listening to seniors, learning from their experiences, and supporting their independence and dignity is what makes this work so incredibly rewarding.
This is the kind of care and intention that truly makes a difference for clients, families, and each other! Thank you for all you do and keep inspiring others!✨✨🌻
