On Holocaust Remembrance Day, we come together as a community to remember the lives lost during the Holocaust and to honor the resilience of those who endured it. We reflect on the consequences of hatred and indifference, and on the responsibility each of us carries to speak out against prejudice and injustice. May this day strengthen our commitment to compassion, understanding, and the protection of human dignity for all.

CarePlus NJ was recently featured on the NJBIZ Pic Page, spotlighting a major milestone for the Bergen County Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Program: more than 1,000 law enforcement officers and mental health professionals trained across Bergen County.

This milestone follows the 40-hour CIT training that closed out 2025, strengthening collaboration between behavioral health providers and law enforcement to improve crisis response, safety, and outcomes for individuals experiencing mental health emergencies.

Through its partnership with the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the CIT Program, CarePlus NJ continues advancing integrated, community-based solutions that prioritize de-escalation, connection to care, and long-term stability.

CarePlus NJ President & CEO Brigitte Johnson was featured in NJ Spotlight News discussing New Jersey’s newly updated licensing rules for outpatient treatment, a major step forward for expanding integrated, whole-person care across the state.

The new rules allow providers to offer primary care, mental health, and addiction services under a single license, removing outdated barriers and simplifying how patients access care. Brigitte shared that the changes could streamline licensing, support service expansion, and help improve access to behavioral health, medical, and social support services across northern New Jersey.

This reflects what CarePlus NJ has long championed: improving accessibility, removing barriers to care, and delivering integrated services that support the whole person and strengthen community health.

CarePlus NJ is deeply saddened by the passing of former Governor Richard J. Codey, a steadfast champion for mental health in New Jersey.

Former Governor Codey led with courage, speaking openly about mental health and helping to break down stigma. On his first day in office in 2004, he issued Executive Order #58, creating the Task Force on Mental Health and paving the way for the Governor’s Council on Mental Health Stigma—work that continues to shape a stronger, more compassionate mental health system today.

We were honored to recognize his lifelong advocacy. His legacy lives on in the ongoing fight against stigma and in the lives he helped impact.
