We get a lot of questions and try to educate on a lot of misconceptions about automotive keys. We are here to guide you through the process and get you back on the road, however some of these jobs get involved and aren't logical to do on the road.
As you can see by the picture, that there is a timer, in this case there is a two hour wait just to be able to gain access for key registration. So certain vehicles and situations are not conducive to do in a parking lot or at the lake. This is why we advise towing to complete these tasks in a better controlled environment.
Your keys in most circumstances require registration to work properly with your vehicle. This can take an extended period of time to complete the task from generation to completion. This is only becoming more and more common place. So some sound advice:
1. Have a spare key ( To avoid an emergency)
2. AAA is affordable and a good idea to have in case you're in need of services such as a tow.
This is not always a quick five minute process. We understand emergencies happen but having some measures in place will help you stay on the road longer and out of the shop. 🔑🚗
