Robert "Bob" Pruett, Jr., a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2026, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Born on November 22, 1945, in Crossett, Arkansas, Bob's life was a testament to his enduring strength, compassion, and dedication to his loved ones and community.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Patricia (Harris) Pruett, and their blended family, which he proudly embraced as his own. He was a devoted father to Danny Pruett and his wife April of Farmington, Raymond Pruett of Loveland, Ohio, Boyd Farmer and wife Robin of Paris, Kevin Farmer and wife Kim of Paris, Shannon Ray Farmer and wife Alicia of Ratcliff, Paul Vinsant of Van Buren and Bonnie Pruett of Fayetteville. Bob's legacy continues through his eleven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren, who will carry on the values and lessons he imparted. His brother, Jerry Pruett and wife Sherry of Gulf Port, Mississippi, also survive him. Bob is predeceased by his parents, Robert Clyde Pruett, Sr. and Blondell (Erskine) Pruett, and his brother, Michael Pruett.
Bob's commitment to caring for others was evident through his educational pursuit, achieving a bachelor's degree in nursing. His professional life was dedicated to helping others, as he served as a registered nurse for Mercy Hospital and the VA Hospital. Additionally, Bob was an esteemed member of the regional board for Mercy Hospital, where his insights and dedication were invaluable.
A proud veteran, Bob served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, a period that greatly influenced his life and instilled in him a profound sense of duty and patriotism. His service continued long after his military tenure through his involvement with the Disabled Veterans of Paris, Paris VFW, and the Paris American Legion.
Bob's Christian faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding his actions and providing comfort and strength throughout his journey. He lived his faith through his actions, always ready to lend a hand or offer support to those in need. An individual of diverse interests, Bob was an avid competitor in shooting sports and a member of the Old Fort Gun Club. His love for competitive shooting was matched by his passion for collecting guns. A voracious reader, he immersed himself in the worlds of science fiction, always eager to explore new and imaginative universes. Bob was also a dedicated World War II buff, fascinated by history and its enduring impact. His intellectual curiosity extended to learning foreign languages, a hobby that reflected his appreciation for different cultures.
There will be a memorial service at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 30, 2026 at Roller Funeral Home in Paris. Burial of the cremated remains will follow the memorial service at Fort Smith National cemetery at 1:00 p.m.
