Impact - It's Time To Tell People They Matter

Just a group of people that believe we need to say nice things to each other and give you tools to do it.

Far too often people don't hear about the IMPACT they've had on the lives of those around them. Things typically aren't said until the funeral. We want to change that by giving you a way to collect notes and memories for your loved ones. We'll put them all together in a beautiful keepsake book for you to surprise some of your favorite people, and tell them just how much they mean to you.

TW: su***de || The idea of the IMPACT book®️ was born from a conversation I (Jenny) had with my husband, Joel, when he was in a really dark place mentally. He had told me he didn’t think he was doing anything that made an impact on the world. (Which was crazy to me because he was not only a husband and new father, but a pastor, youth pastor, YoungLife leader, soccer coach… you name it… he was doing it.)

I reached out to everyone I could think of and asked them three questions: What is your favorite memory with Joel? How has Joel impacted your life? How has Joel helped you? I got SO many incredible replies! I put them all in a book and gave it to him for his birthday. He looked at me with tears in his eyes as he read it, and told me he had no idea.

A couple of years later, we were pulling up to a funeral for a friend of my husband’s who had taken his own life. The parking lot was PACKED and cars lined the street. I looked at my husband and said, “He had NO idea this many people cared…”

After that, it became my mission to help people know they matter. I realized I could make the IMPACT book something that anyone could make for another person, so I set out to make that happen. In 2017, I officially launched IMPACT book, LLC. We’ve been making books for people ever since.

Whether you know someone who is deep in the darkness and could use a physical reminder of the lives they’re impacting or someone who seems like they know (they don’t), this book is for everyone to help people they love know they matter.

Thanks for being here, IMPACT has been one of my biggest heart projects… and it is one of the ideas I’m most grateful for and proud of.

We’ve got some big shifts happening as we put our all into what you see here and how we show up online. Thank you for existing in this inconsistent space with us.

If you read this far, would you help us reactivate the algorithm with this account and just comment a ♥️ or something? We aren’t gonna ghost this time… we’ve got too much to say and do with big purpose. It’s time to focus on and get it done messy, not perfectly.

Thanksgiving is a day many of us will be gathering around the table with our family or chosen family. For some, the day is one of our favorite days of the year. For others, it is an incredibly triggering day. And some fall somewhere between the two ends of the spectrum.

I’m a firm believer in recognizing our role in life and handling that role the best we can. With that in mind, I wanted to send some encouragement to you. The holidays are some of the best opportunities for us to help us carry this movement of telling others they matter forward.

Tell people they matter to you every opportunity you get tomorrow and through the rest of the season. Use the day that’s intention is gratitude to show gratitude to those around you. Here are a few ideas you can practice:

❤️ Send a text to everyone you can think of (individually) and tell them one reason you’re grateful for them.

❤️ If you are gathering with people, be sure to tell them you love them and are grateful for them.

❤️ If someone is hosting you, help with clean up, and let them know how much you appreciate the space to gather.

❤️ Think of someone you know that may be having a hard time during this season. Send them a message and tell them that you’re thinking of them and that you’re grateful to know them.

❤️ If you notice someone is overwhelmed or on the outside of the group, take time to let them know that you see them and you’re happy they’ve made the effort to come.

Make tomorrow better for people. Show up for the people you love.

And in case you need to hear this, I just want to tell you how incredible you are. Thank you for being here. Thank you for being a part of this mission of telling others they matter.

Please remember: You are seen. You are noticed. You are loved. YOU MATTER.
