Halloween was so much fun at Heritage Community this year. After the residents had lovingly made over 500 bags of candy, they were able to hand them out on Halloween afternoon. We decorated our courtyard, so little ones could have fun enjoying all the decorations. Some of our residents handed out the bags of candy while others watched from the windows. Thank you to all the parents that brought your children Trick or Treating at Heritage this year!

Last week was a busy one at Heritage Community! Staff dressed up and then we played staff/resident bingo with many prizes being given away. It was a fun day and there was lots of laughter heard throughout the hallways.

The local Lions ladies came and loved on our residents with a fall party. They decorated the tables, had delicious goodies and drinks. They even had a Halloween skit that they performed for us. Thanks so much for taking the time to love on us!

Pig Racing Championship! These two ladies made it to the finals in pig racing. There was lots of cheering going on. The champion got a medal, a cash prize and a certificate for winning.

We tried a new game this week-Pig Racing. Anyone that wanted to race could pick which pig they wanted. We had fun watching the pigs not wanting to stay in their lane. The pigs even stopped and oinked sometimes. If you won, then you got to go on to the next round.

We had so much fun the other night, going for a drive out to the Toad Lake Apple Orchard! We found out all the varieties of apples they grow and issues that some apples have. We learned about how to keep birds and bugs away from apple trees. They answered all our questions we could come up with. Some of us were adventuresome and took a ride on the barrel train. We were then treated to hot apple crisp and ice cream. What a treat that was! On the drive home we were able to witness this beautiful scene of Toad Lake. Thanks Toad Lake Apple Orchard for hosting us and treating us so special. We won't soon forget this outing.

What a wonderful afternoon out we had at Jaspers Theatre recently! We sang along, reminisced about some of the songs and laughed at the antics of the actors. It was such a pleasure to get to enjoy this production.

Prairie Belle Flower Farm came in and did a flower arranging class with our residents. It was so fun to pick the flowers out that we liked and learn how to arrange them. All of our dining room tables were able to have an arrangement on them for us to enjoy. Thanks to Leading Edge Mechanical for helping to sponsor this event!

Heritage Communities had a fun day last week taste testing some homemade soups. A contest was held and residents got to taste test them all and vote for their favorite!

Heritage Community would like to wish Connie Preston the best on her retirement. She has been with Heritage for over 40 years. We celebrated her at her Retirement party on Thursday, July 31st! Enjoy and thank you for your service to Heritage and it's residents!

Mandatory Fun Outdoors is a non profit that provides unique outdoor experiences for Veterans. Sam came with her hunting dog and showed us all kinds of tricks and talents that her dog has. It was fun to see this unique dog from Germany and hear about it's background. We were able to give it commands and have her obey. We then gave her treats that she ate out of our hands. It was a great morning to be outside for this educational experience. Thanks, Sam, for coming and doing this demonstration for us!
