Meghann Richko first stepped onto a yoga mat as a teenager while working at her local YMCAâand sheâs been hooked ever since. By age 17, she was already teaching group yoga classes, and her passion soon took her to Colorado, where she trained at a well-known yoga school, and studied Ashtanga Yoga and holistic health at the Rocky Mountain Institute of Yoga and Ayurvedic Medicine.
It was there that Meghann developed her therapeutic foundation, integrating yoga with mental and physical health applications, as well as Yin and Restorative practices. Alongside her yoga training, she studied Psychology at the University of Colorado at Boulder, laying the groundwork for her unique mind-body approach.
Meghann is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, Yoga Therapist, and experienced Group Yoga Instructor. She provides Mental Health counseling services at The Center For Authentic Living here in Park Ridge. She holds a Masterâs degree in Counseling, a Bachelorâs degree in Psychology, and a Certified Yoga Therapist (CYT) credential. Her yoga education includes extensive training through Richard Freemanâs Ashtanga Yoga School, YogaView (Vinyasa Levels 1 & 2), and Power Yoga (Levels 1â3, Hot, Sculpt, and Restorative).
With over 20 years of experience practicing, studying, and teaching multiple styles of yoga, Meghann is known for creating thoughtfully designed sequences that are challenging, intelligent, and accessibleâoffering students the opportunity to work hard while still feeling supported and successful. Her classes seamlessly weave together strength, mobility, mindfulness, and breath, inspired by her work as a psychotherapist and her deep understanding of the nervous system.
Outside the studio, you may spot Meghann around town with her therapy dog, Romeo, a Great Dane and local favorite who brings just as much joy as she does. đŸ
