On Thursday evening I attended Multicultural Night at Legacy Traditional School - North Chandler.

Multicultural night was an event to celebrate the many cultures that make up Legacy Traditional School’s student body. Students upon arriving were able to pick up a “passport” and visit the different countries that were highlighted in each classroom. It was a great night celebrating the different cultures around the world and it was amazing to see the students dressed in their cultural wear. I want to thank Legacy Traditional School for inviting me as it was fun to participate in the different activities, try different snacks, and learn more about each country. Sapo!

On Sunday morning, I attended the Phoenix10k marathon event where I was asked to provide a land acknowledgement before the different races. I was able to introduce myself and provide the land acknowledgement to all those that attended and took part in the different races. Thank you to Matriarch Movement for inviting me and giving me this privilege.

On Monday morning, I attended Ida Redbird day at Ida Redbird Elementary where I was asked to speak at their pep assembly and lead an activity with the students.

Ida Redbird Day is a day to showcase the many cultures that make up their student body. They started the morning with a fashion show as students had the opportunity to wear their cultural attire. Then I had the pleasure of introducing myself to all the students and explaining what my role is as a cultural ambassador for the state of Arizona. My platform is “Promoting Cultural Learning in our Youth through Traditional Singing and Dancing” so as an activity to get everyone up and moving I invited the students to participate in our form of social dancing! I was so happy to be able to share our culture with the students and they had a fun time.

I want to thank Ida Redbird Elementary for inviting me and giving me the opportunity to share a bit of myself and my culture. I would also like to thank my singer Bowie Leonard for taking the time to join me in showcasing our traditional singing and dancing. Sapo!

Yá’át’ééh! First Attendant Chloe Eskey checking in with a weekend recap from my home community and beyond ✨

This past Friday, Miss Indian Arizona Sialik King and I had the honor of attending the Winslow High School Mr. & Miss Native American Pageant. As Winslow is my home community, this invitation meant so much to me. While I didn’t attend WHS myself, my family is full of proud WHS alumni, so supporting their Native American Club events felt like coming home in the best way. Their dedication plays such an important role in strengthening cultural resilience among our Native youth.

The participants showcased impressive language skills in their self-introductions and shined throughout their talent presentations. Hearing the outgoing Mr. WHS royalty reflect with gratitude as he passed on his title was a beautiful reminder of the power of youth leadership.

On Saturday, Sialik and I continued our travels to the Southwest Navajo Royalty Pageants in Dilkon, AZ, followed by the San Carlos Veterans Powwow. In Dilkon, the contestants carried themselves with pride and confidence as they shared their teachings, language, and leadership.

Later that evening, we joined community members in San Carlos to honor the dedication and service of our Native veterans. The songs, dances, and prayers shared in gratitude were powerful reminders of the strength and sacrifice of those who have protected our homelands.

Ahéhee’ to all the organizers, families, veterans, and community members who welcomed us so warmly throughout the weekend. Your commitment to uplifting culture, youth, and community leadership continues to strengthen our Nations.

It was also wonderful seeing other royalty at each event, each representing their communities with such confidence and pride. We look forward to future encounters and opportunities to support one another.

Lastly, congratulations to the newly crowned royalty of Winslow High School and the Southwest Navajo Community—may your year be filled with purpose, growth, and cultural advocacy.

Wishing everyone safe travels.
Ahéhee’ 🤍

It has been a busy past week but I would love to share with you some of the events that I did!

To start off Miss Indian Arizona 1st Attendant Chloe Eskey and myself attended grand entry at Red Mountain Pow Wow. It was great to see everyone there and all the beautiful dances! During the pow wow they also had bird dancing provided by Bird Singing and Dancing by the River! We had so much fun and we hope you did too!

On Wednesday morning, I attended the SRPMIC Senior Breakfast located at Talking Stick Golf Club. I was able to introduce myself and mingle with all the seniors! It was such a great time making lasting connections with our community’s seniors!

On Wednesday evening, I attended the crowning of the Miss and Jr Miss Fort McDowell 2025-2026. It was a beautiful ceremony as two young women took the opportunity to represent themselves, their families, and their community for the next year. I wish both of them an amazing reign and we hope to see you both at future events!

On Thursday evening, I attended “Stew and Stories” at South Mountain Community College where I provided the opening prayer. It was a great night hearing stories from other cultures and the stew was delicious!

On Friday morning, I attended Salt River Schools and Special Olympics Arizona Field Day at ALA Soccer Field. This was such a special event as this is the first time Special Olympics Arizona has partnered with a tribal nation! With activities provided by Special Olympics Arizona and Salt River Enterprises it was such a fun day!

“Good evening, second attendant, Hannah Nockideneh here!🙋🏽‍♀️
Yesterday, I had the opportunity to attend the Girl Scouts’ Native American Heritage Month event. It was a wonderful evening spent with all the Girl Scouts, learning about their involvement in their communities and celebrating their many accomplishments. Their dedication, enthusiasm, and pride in sharing their heritage was truly inspiring.
During the event, I had the honor of participating in a Tribal Royalty fashion show, where I joined other tribal representatives in showcasing the beauty and diversity of our traditional regalia. I also enjoyed engaging in culturally centered workshops that highlighted the importance of leadership, community, and identity among Native youth. And I had the privilege to share information about the Miss Indian Arizona Scholarship Program and encourage the next generation to continue embracing opportunities that empower and uplift Native voices.
I would like to extend my appreciation to the troop leaders and organizers for hosting such an inspiring event and for creating a space that celebrates culture, heritage, and community. Ahéhee’!☘️💚”

Happy Halloween everyone 🎃! This past Saturday evening Miss Indian Arizona 1st Attendant Chloe Eskey and myself attended the SRPMIC Fall Festival & Trunk or Treat.

We were given the opportunity to introduce ourselves to attendees and explore some of the craft and food vendors. We then headed to the Trunk or Treat to judge all of the department booths. It was such a hard decision with all the creativity and thoughtfulness that went into each trunk. During the festival attendees were able to sign up for different contest including apple bobbing, pie eating, and pumpkin sweeping. The most anticipated contest however was the costume contest for 3 different age categories which we were also able to judge. Congratulations to all the winners and to all those that participated!

We would like to thank Community Relations Office for inviting us and letting us be apart of such a fun event for everyone! Tonight please look both ways before crossing the road and make sure to check your candy before consuming. Please take care of yourself and each other and have a very Happy Halloween! 🎃 Sapo!

Last Tuesday evening, I returned back home to my beloved community and a celebration event was held in the Two Water courtyard.

The event started with a small program where attendees heard celebratory words from MSRC Chairwoman Elisa Pongyesvia and SRPMIC Vice President Ricardo Leonard. I was given the opportunity to give my thanks to our community members and guests. Our Miss Indian Arizona 1st Attendant, Chloe Eskey, was able to introduce herself to those in attendance. Following the program, a receiving line was formed and cake was distributed to all guests.

Everyone then went outside where traditional singing and dancing from both of our community’s dance groups. This was such a special moment as traditional singing and dancing is a way for our community’s youth and elders to come together. Dancing is something that I love to do and it brings me a clear mind and strong sense of my identity as an O’odham woman. I’m so grateful to our community dance groups for always being willing to show who we are as O’odham and Piipaash.

Thank you to the Miss Salt River Committee, Community Relations Office, SRPMIC Traditional Singers and Dancers, Bird Singing and Dancing by the River, Michael Schaaf, and all those in attendance for your contribution to making this event so special. I am grateful for the opportunity to represent both the Onk Akimel O’odham and Xalychidom Piipaash. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for this next year! Sapo!

“On Monday morning, I attended the 12% Gaming Grant Breakfast held at OdySea Aquarium where I was asked to provide the invocation and national anthem.

Within the SRPMIC gaming compact, 12% of gaming revenue goes towards charitable donations so every year they host a breakfast to thank all the foundations for their contributions towards their communities. Attendees got to hear from SRPMIC President Martin Havier and SRPMIC Councilman Jacob Butler. Photos could be taken with OdySea divers and we even got to meet a special guest Sedona, which is one of the penguins housed at the aquarium!

I want to thank for inviting me and for hosting such a fun breakfast! It was amazing to meet all the foundations and hear their own values and missions guided towards helping their communities. Sapo!”
