On March 7th, I attended the Miss and Jr Miss Gila River Pageant held in the Gila River Indian Community where I was asked to emcee.

It was great to meet all the young ladies who were vying for the titles. They all did an amazing job representing themselves, their families, and their community. I would love to extend a job well done to the outgoing Gila River Royalty as they completed their reigns with maturity, grace, and humility. I would also like to extend a big congratulations to the incoming Gila River Royalty as they embark a new journey and I can’t wait to see their growth this next year.

I want to thank for inviting me and giving me a special part in the pageant. It was a great afternoon mingling with all our hajun that came out to support the young ladies. Sapo!

Yá’át’ééh! Miss Indian Arizona First Attendant Chloe Eskey here. 😄

I spent Sunday visiting the Heard Museum and celebrating the incredible talent of Indigenous artists.

It was such an honor to meet Naiomi Glasses and Tyler Glasses, and to support Indigenous artistry by bringing home a beautiful piece from one of the artists featured at the museum.

Grateful for spaces that celebrate culture, creativity, and community. ✨

On February 28, I attended the Pisin Mo’o Royalty Pageant held in the Pisin Mo’o District of the Tohono O’odham Nation.

There were 3 young women who competed for the title of Jr Miss Pisin Mo’o and 2 young women who competed for Miss Pisin Mo’o. They all did such a beautiful job showcasing their traditional knowledge as well as their personal talents.

I want to extend a job well done to the outgoing Pisin Mo’o Royalty as they represented themselves, their families, and their district with such grace and humility. I would also love to extend a congratulations to the incoming Pisin Mo’o Royalty and I wish them a blessed and safe reign as they represent their district. Sapo!

On February 26th, I attended the celebration event held for Salt River Elementary School students who were nominated for Student of the Month for both January and February!

I was able to share a few encouraging words with the students and families in attendance as they celebrate such an amazing achievement. It was great to hear why each student was nominated and to hear their dedication to their studies as well as their character in the classroom.

I want to congratulate each student once again and to their families for receiving such an accomplishment. I want to thank Salt River Elementary School for inviting me and allowing me to be apart of such a special celebration for our community’s students. Sapo!

On February 13th, I attended Mesa Public Schools Native American Education Program’s 10th annual Warrior’s Path Conference held at Scottsdale Community College.

This conference is aimed to motivate indigenous students through several workshops rooted in cultural identity and career success. Before students were split up into groups I was given the opportunity to share some words with the students about higher education and how conferences like these help foster leadership skills. I was able to visit some of the workshops presented by Serenity Nez, who did tote designing, Manderee Jose, who did shell necklaces and bracelets, and O’odham Action News, who did a presentation about SRPMIC’s community newspaper.

I want to thank Mesa Public Schools Native American Education Program for putting on such a great conference for our indigenous youth and for inviting me to be apart of it. I had so much fun mingling with the students and hearing their excitement and questions in the presentations. Sapo!

Sekik Masik Tas Arizona! I would like to take the time to wish our beautiful state a happy 114th birthday! Arizona gained its statehood on February 14th, 1912 earning the nickname The Sweetheart State! 🩷🌵

While Arizona has had territorial connections with many tribes before statehood, today 22 federally recognized tribes call Arizona home. I hope you all have a special Valentine’s Day spending it with your loved ones. Please join in me wishing our home a very Happy Birthday! Sapo!

On February 9th I attended Alchesay High School’s Basketball Team Dinner held at Sunrise Park Lodge on the White Mountain Apache Tribe, where I was asked to provide the opening prayer and share some words of encouragement to the high school teams.

As a former basketball player myself, postseason is always a stressful time for our student athletes. It was great to be able to share some advice as well as motivating words as both the boys and girls team travel around the state of Arizona. I want to thank former Miss Indian Arizona 2023-2024 Laney Lupe for putting on such an amazing event for your student athletes as well as inviting me to be apart of it. I had such a great time having conversation with the players and hearing their excitement for their upcoming games. Sapo!

On February 6th, I attended the White Mountain Apache Behavioral Health Services 1st Quarter All Staff Meeting held in Whiteriver where I was asked to MC their event as well as provide a motivational speech about wellness.

Wellness and taking care of your physical, mental, and cultural health is so important and it’s something we often overlook. I was happy to be asked to give a talk about balancing work and personal life and offer tips that help me balance all of my commitments.

I want to thank White Mountain Apache Behavioral Services for inviting me and allowing me to be apart of your quarterly meeting, I learned a lot and had so much fun. Sapo!

Skeg Tas everyone! On January 31st through February 1st, Miss Indian Arizona 2nd Attendant Hannah Nockideneh and myself attended the Arizona Indian Festival held at the Scottsdale Civic Plaza!

We started out the weekend by participating in the Parade Del Sol parade where we had the opportunity to meet with other tribal representives and royalty. After we completed the parade we watched the cultural exchanges going on at the main stage. It was beautiful to see different cultures from the 22 tribes being represented. We were given the opportunity to introduce ourselves and share more information on the history of the Miss Indian Arizona Association and what it means to be a tribal ambassador for the 22 federally recognized tribes in Arizona. This weekend I also had the opportunity to dance with the SRPMIC Traditional Dance Group. It was a blessing to be able to share our O’odham songs and dances with those in attendance.

We want to thank the Arizona American Indian Tourism Association for putting on a great event and for allowing us to be apart of it. It warmed my heart to see all those that attended with the intention of learning more about the tribal nations in Arizona. We would also like to thank for providing some beautiful pictures of us during the parade. Sapo!

On January 24, I attended O’odham and Piipaash Day held at the SRPMIC Community Garden & Traditional Games Field, where I was asked to provide the opening prayer.

O’odham and Piipaash Day is an annual event held in my community to celebrate our history and culture as Onk Akimel O’odham and Xalychidom Piipaash. The event consisted of department booths, traditional men and women’s games, traditional food samples, and a Cu:dk/Chiyer. It is important to celebrate our culture as it is a big part of our identity as indigenous people. These events serve as a reminder of our strength and resiliency as we continue to learn more about the ways of our people. It warmed my heart to see everyone that attended and participated in all of the activities.

I want to thank SRPMIC Community Relations Office for inviting me and giving me the opportunity to be apart of such a special event for our community. Sapo!
