Yá’á’ééh!
This weekend the Miss Indian Arizona Court attended the Miss and Mr Indigenous ASU pageant to celebrate the outgoing royalty and to congratulate the incoming 2026-2027 court.

Hannah and I were honored to have been asked to help tabulate and be the timer for the pageant.

On Saturday, I attended the Royalty Meet and greet and was able to meet the contestants and other visiting royalty. That night, we were present for the crowning of the new MMIASU court and wished them the best for their year of representing their communities.

On Saturday April 11th, I attended Jr Miss Salt River’s platform event “Movement is Medicine” held at the ALA football field.

The event started with light stretching as attendees prepared to take a couple laps around the track. After everyone was done walking, a meal was provided and we got to hear from our Jr Miss Salt River 2025-2026 Tiaré Begay-Smith. She explained the importance of movement in our daily lives and why she chose her platform. It was incredible to hear her story and to see her event come to life. Following dinner was the O’odham and Piipaash traditional socials and giveaway.

I want to thank Jr Miss Salt River Tiaré Begay-Smith for inviting me and for bringing our community together for a night of movement. It was inspirational to see the hard work and dedication it took to plan and execute an event centered around your platform. It was an amazing night of walking and dancing. Sapo!

On Friday April 10th, I attended the American Indian Disability Summit held in Phoenix where I was asked to provide a welcome.

The summit is held annually and fosters networking and educational opportunities for indigenous people who have a disability and their families. I was asked to welcome attendees and give more insight to the Miss Indian Arizona Scholarship Program.

I want to thank event organizers for inviting me and allowing me a part in their program. I had such great conversations with everyone and it was a great morning. Sapo!

On April 7th, I attended Salt River Family Advocacy Center’s “Chalk and Walk” held at Friendship Park.

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month and to show support to survivors, FAC organized a Chalk and Walk. To start the event, attendees were encouraged to write supportive messages on the basketball court. After hearing some words from Council and organizers, everyone walked a mile.

Sexual Violence is horrendous and disproportionately impacts tribal communities. Events such as this one not only show support to all those that are impacted but also bring awareness to issues within our communities.

I want to thank Salt River’s Family Advocacy Center for bringing our community together to show our support and love to everyone affected by sexual violence. To any survivors, please know that we all stand behind you and care for you. Si has em elid (we are thinking about you) ❤️ Sapo!

On April 3rd and 4th I attended the Piipaash Matasheevm held at the Lehi Cultural Grounds in Salt River.

My community includes not only the Onk Akimel O’odham but also the Xalychidom Piipaash and this weekend highlighted their culture through social dancing. It was such a fun weekend dancing with the different bird communities of Arizona and California.

I want to thank the Piipaash Matasheevm committee for putting on such a great event that brought together so many different communities. Thank you to everyone that came out and shared their songs and dances. Sapo!

Yá’át’ééh! Miss Indian Arizona First Attendant Chloe Eskey here. 😄

On Friday, I had the opportunity to support the Rising Healers: Native American Healthcare Expo at A.T. Still University, a space dedicated to providing Indigenous youth with firsthand exposure to healthcare careers.

Students engaged in a variety of sessions across different healthcare pathways, gaining hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of what these careers truly entail.

I was especially grateful to support the Ready, Set, Respond and Train the Trainer sessions through my internship with the IHEART Initiative (AIHEC), which focuses on building sustainable pathway programs for Indigenous youth pursuing careers in healthcare.

Opportunities like this are so important in strengthening representation and expanding access within healthcare for our communities.

I am very thankful to have been part of the planning committee and to serve as a volunteer at this event. I would also like to extend my appreciation to the Cultural Diversity team at A.T. Still University for bringing together several organizations to make this impactful experience possible.

Skeg Tas! Today is National Sibling Day and I would like to take the time to acknowledge my 3 younger brothers, Hayden, Christian, and Maxwell.

As the oldest, I have had the rewarding experience of watching my younger brothers grow up into the young men they are today and I could not be more proud. Their unwavering support helps drive me to be the best version of myself everyday and I would not be where I am today without them in my corner. To my brothers, I thank creator everyday for giving me the pleasure of being your older sister.

I would like to encourage everyone to take a moment and reach out to your siblings today and express your love and gratitude. Sapo!

Skeg Tas everyone! It has been a while and I hope you are all doing great! On March 26, I attended The Traditional Food Experience held at River People Health Center.

The event highlighted Tohono O’odham Chef Sandra Miller who provided attendees a traditional O’odham meal. Chef Miller gave a presentation on the meal we ate as well as what experiences in her life that led up to her becoming a chef. She also talked about the importance of food sovereignty and how traditional food ways are founded in family connections.

I want to thank Salt River Diabetes Prevention Services, FitnessFest Events, and N8V KTCN for putting on such a great event for our community to learn more about tribal food sovereignty and for bringing our community members together for a healthy and delicious meal. Sapo!

On March 7th, I attended the Miss and Jr Miss Gila River Pageant held in the Gila River Indian Community where I was asked to emcee.

It was great to meet all the young ladies who were vying for the titles. They all did an amazing job representing themselves, their families, and their community. I would love to extend a job well done to the outgoing Gila River Royalty as they completed their reigns with maturity, grace, and humility. I would also like to extend a big congratulations to the incoming Gila River Royalty as they embark a new journey and I can’t wait to see their growth this next year.

I want to thank for inviting me and giving me a special part in the pageant. It was a great afternoon mingling with all our hajun that came out to support the young ladies. Sapo!

Yá’át’ééh! Miss Indian Arizona First Attendant Chloe Eskey here. 😄

I spent Sunday visiting the Heard Museum and celebrating the incredible talent of Indigenous artists.

It was such an honor to meet Naiomi Glasses and Tyler Glasses, and to support Indigenous artistry by bringing home a beautiful piece from one of the artists featured at the museum.

Grateful for spaces that celebrate culture, creativity, and community. ✨
