Parkville Medical Group plans to open soon for appointments!
How much longer until opening?
Terry Stevenson, CRNP and Dr Robert Baxt are undertaking the final steps to make the new practice a reality. However, due to continued delays in receiving participation status with major insurance carriers - like Medicare, Medicaid, BCBS, Aetna, Cigna, and United Healthcare - we may need to open as a cash business. To that end we would like to get a feel for whether it would be viable to operate as cash for service.
You will find a poll below that we are using to gauge whether this business model will be something that could work for our patients. If you previously saw Terry or Dr. Baxt, we encourage you to give us this feedback so we can take the next steps in opening our practice. The following are answers to your frequently asked questions:
--=- How would this work?
Patients would be required to pay at the time of appointment.
--- What about my insurance?
Patients can get a detailed claim from us, which is normally sent to one's insurance, which they can submit. (The practice cannot do this effectively if we are not approved as a participating provider.) Your insurance carrier would then reimburse you for the cost of the visit.
--- How much would it cost?
We have determined that $70 per visit is the average amount we received in the past, across all patient visits and insurance carriers.
--- Why can't I use my health insurance?
When a medical practice is not participating with an insurance carrier, they tend to reject our medical claims from any visits with us. Often these bills get passed on to you and inflated, as is the current state of our insurance system. Unfortunately, we are not participating with any insurance carriers at this time. This is not by choice or lack of effort on our part, but it is our reality.
--- Will the practice take my insurance in the future?
Yes! We anticipate gaining participation status with all major carriers in the near future: Medicare, BCBS, Cigna, Aetna, and United Healthcare. There is no clear timeline, but it should happen within the first 3-6 months of the practice's opening date.
If you have any other questions about this process, please post them to our page. We will try to answer as promptly as possible.
