Doctors of Optometry, Inc. Coronavirus Update
At Doctors of Optometry, Inc., the health and wellness of our team and patients is our top priority. With the outbreak of COVID-19 (Coronavirus), we have been closely monitoring the situation and will follow instructions and mandates issued by public health authorities or government agencies as needed.
As an ongoing commitment to providing a clean, safe and welcoming environment to be able to ensure the best possible vision and eye health for our patients, we are taking additional steps to protect against the spread of germs.
We are being especially diligent in conducting regular cleaning and disinfection of all equipment, surfaces, and areas of the office. We are implementing a policy of only one doctor in the office at any given time and scheduling patients at longer intervals to allow for fewer patients in the office at a time to limit the possibility of community spread of germs. We are allowing any staff member that is uncomfortable coming into the office to stay home.
Patients are asked to reschedule at a later time if they have been out of the country in the last 2 weeks, have a fever, or have any flu-like symptoms. Patients will be screened with questions and possibly a temperature scan once arriving at the office. We will only allow patients that are being seen or only one adult with a minor in the office at a time. Please have any additional family members wait outside or in the car.
With broader scheduling and limited staff, we are asking our patients to be patient with us in rescheduling as necessary to allow for everyone’s safety. Hand sanitizer is available in multiple areas throughout the office and patients are asked to only handle items when required for testing.
You should already be washing your hands frequently and thoroughly for at least 20 seconds. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands. Cough or sneeze into a tissue or your inner elbow. Maintain a three to six foot distance from others, and if you are sick, please stay home and take care of yourself.
If you are in need of service for your eyewear or are running low on your contact lens supply it is not necessary to schedule a re-examination right away unless you are experiencing a significant change in vision where we will need to rule out medical causes. We will extend prescriptions for six months and allow the purchase of an additional six month supply of contact lenses or new glasses. Please call our office before coming in for any service. Contact lenses can be ordered by simply calling the office and placing an order which can be shipped directly to you, or you can pick up your order curbside by calling when you arrive at the office.
Again, please be patient as we expect to receive more phone calls and you may experience more hold time or reach the answering machine. If you do, please leave a message and our staff will return your call as soon as possible.
Please keep in mind that this is still a fluid situation and we will keep you posted on any changes in our policies. Thank you for your ongoing support and shared efforts to help keep our community healthy.
