Remembering Dalton

Today, we take a moment to remember Dalton — the reason For Our Friends exists. Thirteen years ago today, Dalton left this world, likely never realizing the incredible impact he would have.

In his final words, he wrote:

“To the children who think their lives aren’t worth living, I say to you — keep moving forward, for my sake and for those who fell to their own hands before me. For the sake of the people who thought life was too scary… keep living! I want the world to turn into a beautiful place where no one is scared.”

I doubt he knew then that his words would one day inspire an organization devoted to helping others feel less alone — one built from love, grief, and the hope that no one else would have to struggle in silence.

You are so missed, Dalton. While your legacy lives on and continues to touch countless lives, we would give anything to have you here with us. Thank you for inspiring something that carries your light forward every day. 💚

If you or someone you know is struggling, please remember: you are not alone. Help and hope are always within reach.

💚 World Mental Health Day 💚
Today, For Our Friends pauses to honor and uplift everyone on their mental health journey. Whether you’re struggling, healing, supporting others, or simply making it through the day — you are seen, valued, and never alone.

🧠 1 in 4 people will experience a mental health challenge in their lifetime. That’s why awareness, empathy, and open conversations matter so much.

Let’s continue to raise awareness, spread understanding, and create a world where caring for our mental health is part of caring for each other. 💚

Su***de Prevention Day means something different when you’ve spent several years of your life on a line — not metaphorically, but literally — wondering if you wanted to see another day.

I spent so many years actively suicidal. Not just dark thoughts in passing, but full-on plans. And still, what scared me the most wasn’t the suicidal ideation — it was the numbness. The emptiness. The terrifying quiet of feeling nothing at all.

I remember knowing, logically, that I had things to live for — but none of it was enough. I couldn’t feel it. And that disconnection made the darkness even harder to explain.

At some point in the last few years, something changed. Not in one big, dramatic moment — more like a slow series of small ones. The once constant thoughts, the only thing I could focus on, began to soften. They stopped sitting in front of my mind every day.

But the journey to get here was far from easy.
It was filled with countless hours of therapy. With broken relationships, I couldn't always repair. With nights where I clung to the edge of something I couldn’t name — and mornings where getting out of bed felt like a miracle. It was messy. It was painful. But it was real.

And I’m here today to tell you: healing is real, too.
If you're reading this and you feel like you're on the edge — like you can’t take another day — I want you to know something: You are not broken. You are not weak. You are not a burden. You are human. And you are allowed to struggle.

I know what it’s like to feel like the darkness will never end. But I also know what it’s like to laugh again. To cry from joy. To look forward to something. To feel… something. You won’t always feel like this. You can find your way back. And when you do — even if it takes time — you’ll realize that staying was the strongest thing you’ve ever done.

I’m proud to still be here.
And if you’re reading this — I’m proud of you, too.

It’s our FIFTH birthday! First and foremost, thank you to everyone that has supported For Our Friends over the last FIVE years! I continue to be blown away by the support and continuous growth. I created For Our Friends to continue telling my friend Dalton’s story after he died by su***de and create a safe place to talk about mental health and su***de, especially in rural communities.

Over the last four years, we’ve provided people worldwide stories of help, stories of people overcoming their battles with mental health, advice, statistics, and information on how to talk to people about mental health, and we are only at the beginning.

While For Our Friends hasn’t been as active as it has in years past (HOPING TO CHANGE THIS SOON) it continues to grow and help reach others who need help and brightness in their lives. I have big plans for the future of For Our Friends, but one thing will stay the same, it will always be a place to remember our friends that we have lost to mental health and su***de. To anyone who has lost someone to su***de, this organization will always be For Our Friends.
