Elderberry Winter Warmer Cordial✨ Ya’ll this seriously tastes *amazing* and is so medicinal too! And just look at that color!💜 And it’s always a plus when your medicine can taste good- am I right!? I like to enjoy my cordials the European way- sipping in sweet little cordial cups after dinner or while socializing with friends. They promote a sense of well-being and are total heart medicine- the root word of cordial is the Latin “cor” which means heart, and in Middle English cordial meant “of the heart”💞 Cordials are one of the topics covered in our upcoming online course, Spice Rack Medicine, and registration closes in just 1 WEEK on Jan 22nd! Link to learn more about class below and here’s the recipe for this cordial!

Spice Rack Medicine Winter Online Series-https://spicerackmedicineonline.teachable.com/p/spice-rack-medicine-online-series1

Elderberry Winter Warmer Cordial✨
1/2 cup Dried Elderberries
1/4 cup Dried Rose Hips
4 tbsp Dried Cinnamon (sticks, chips, or powder)
2 tbsp Dried Ginger (or 4 tbsp fresh)
Dried Orange Peel 2 tbsp (or 4 tbsp fresh)
1 cup Honey (preferably raw)
2 cups Alcohol of choice that is 40-50% alcohol content aka 80-100 proof (some options are vodka, brandy, grappa, whiskey, rum, gin)

So simple to make. Put all your herbs in a glass jar. Then pour in your alcohol and mix in the honey. It’s ok if your honey is crystallized as it will dissolve in the alcohol in a day or two. Mix well and let steep for a month! Shake daily if you can. Strain and it’s ready to use! Take a little but in a cordial glass daily for immune and emotional heart support. Enjoy with friends as often as possible💘

There's so much to talk about with each of these herbs but here's a few good tidbits! Elderberry provides anti-viral properties- Elderberry literally helps prevent virus cells from entering our own cells and replicating- and there’s of course a long history of traditional use backing this up. The Rose Hips add amazing flavor and a vitamin C boost, and then of course we have the amazing spices to warm it all up🔥🔥🔥 I added cinnamon, ginger, and orange peel. They add a depth of flavor but also immune-boosting naturally occurring essential oils that fight pathogens and these spices provide potent digestive support too!
