Diets can work great...until they stop working. Then what? In reality, healthy living and sustaining the healthiest version of yourself possible is a life skill...or set of skills...if you will. The key is to make healthy habits and behaviors a regular, enjoyable part of your life!

Happy Monday! Are you ready for this week's "failures?" They're coming! We all hit snags and have little (and big) disappointments during our week. If you find that this trips you up too much, try reframing your mindset a bit. First, acknowledge that a 'failure' can only occur in the past. It is done and over with. You can choose what to do with it in the present time:
1) Obsess and beat yourself up (less helpful)
2) Let it go altogether (possibly helpful but missing an opportunity to learn)
3) Use it as a helpful 'data point' in your process to learn and improve.
Remember, YOU are the one in charge of your life and your day to day process (even though it doesn't always feel that way). So remember to advocate for yourself, and cheer yourself on when you're navigating the 'failures' of your day. You've totally got this!

Guess what? There is no "good" or "bad" in nutrition. There are merely FACTS...nutrition data to be specific. How that data affects you is going to be different from how it affects someone else. Too often I see clients who are trying to "eat perfectly" and go "all or nothing." This works great for a while, but when it comes to maintaining, the problems start to pop up.

That's because 'less-healthy' foods are always going to be there...in life, at parties, on holidays. And frankly, sometimes a trip to the fast food drive through is your only option. In these circumstances, it's better to know how to do your best (while enjoying every bite) and NOT make it a "BAD MEAL." 🤔

Learning how to work with what you have, how to enjoy all foods mindfully; and knowing when and how much to enjoy them is an essential part of healthy living mastery.

A good start would be to try using a "most of the time, some of the time" (or 80%/20%) approach to your eating. Stick to foods you know support your goals most of the time, enjoy foods that don't some of the time. Try not to use labels like "cheat meals" or "slip up." Instead, let it unfold organically, while making an effort to be aware of your eating behaviors and giving yourself permission to know what's best in the moment.
