Friday Musings

A few things on my mind this week, all woven through the work we do at Sparrow’s Nest and inside the Maternity Massage Collective:

• Support for moms of multiples during pregnancy and postpartum

November’s hands-on refinement training
At Sparrow’s Nest, one of the things we hold most dear is our commitment to being lifelong learners. Every month our team comes together for focused, hands-on refinement where we dive deep into a specific topic to keep our touch precise and our skills sharp.

This ongoing training is built into the care you receive. Our therapists are paid for their time to grow, study, and refine. It shows in the way they work. Every session is unique, attuned to your needs, and supported by a toolbox that’s continually expanding and evolving!

Our little family will be expanding next year. I’m expecting my third baby at 40 years old, and feeling deeply blessed and grateful. This pregnancy has been relatively easy so far, and I’m looking forward to being reborn once again as a new woman and mother.

And I’m not the only one! We’ve been joking that there must be something in the water at Sparrow’s Nest, as several of our team members have been pregnant at the same time. One of our therapists just welcomed a healthy baby boy this week, and the rest of us are cruising along in our own journeys.

As a result, you may notice some natural shifts in our team as we make space for maternity leaves. Supporting our staff through their motherhood transitions is an important part of how we live our mission, caring for mothers while being mothers ourselves.

That’s a wrap on teaching for 2025. The November Pre and Perinatal Massage class was filled with such talented, passionate therapists. I’m thrilled to see them carry this work into the world in service to mothers, babies, and families.
A special highlight was having my beloved mentor, Carole Osborne, join us for lunch, share stories, and grace our group photo.
