When the Eaton Canyon Fire forced 91-year-old Joanna Bailey and her daughter, Sandra, to flee their home of over 50 years, they lost more than a house; they lost a lifetime of memories and a sense of normalcy.

In the days that followed, the kindness of others helped them take their first steps forward. Through the Huntington Senior Care Network’s Senior Caring Fund, Joanna received a gift card that allowed her to choose simple yet meaningful items, like a familiar nightgown, new shoes, and everyday essentials.

The Pasadena Police Department proudly presented a $40,000 donation to Huntington Cancer Center, an affiliate of Cedars-Sinai Cancer, from its Stronger Together Breast Cancer Awareness Month campaign. These funds will help provide life-saving breast cancer diagnosis and treatment for patients right here in our community.

We are deeply grateful to Chief Gene Harris, the Pasadena Police Department, and their community partners for standing with our patients and showing the true power of compassion, collaboration, and community.

Huntington Health is honored to join OneLegacy in celebrating the life and legacy of Skylar Marie Holland Saunders, whose extraordinary gifts of organ and tissue donation will be honored on the 2026 OneLegacy Donate Life Rose Parade Float. We are deeply grateful to Skylar’s family and proud to support this mission of hope, healing and lifesaving impact.

Skylar Marie Holland Saunders will be a Floragraph honoree on this year's float. Honored by OneLegacy

Skylar Marie Holland Saunders was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on April 26, 2007, but raised in Pasadena, California. She had striking eyes and a smile that would light up the room. She was an enchanting, intelligent, and carefree young lady. Skylar was born an entertainer, singing and dancing at family gatherings. She loved going to summer camp and making TikTok videos with friends.

As a child, Skylar developed asthma. She would never let the asthma stop her from doing what she loved the most, hanging with her friends. On December 9, 2018, Skylar was hanging out with her best friend, having fun. That night, Skylar had a severe asthma attack that left her brain dead due to a lack of oxygen. On December 12, 2018, Skylar passed away. She donated her organs, including one of her kidneys, which saved the life of a family friend who received a direct donation. Her family will always remember her as their greatest gift.

Our Story

In February of 1892, a group of prominent local citizens decided that their community would best be served by a local medical facility. They formed the Pasadena Hospital Association and, several years later, a nonprofit hospital was opened for service. In 1900, a committee was appointed to raise funds to build and endow a permanent hospital building. The committees task was made much simpler when Mrs. Caroline Walkley, a local resident, donated a plot of land on which to build the proposed facility. Two years later, at a cost of $21,000, the 26-bed Pasadena Hospital opened on the present site of Huntington Hospital. The Great Depression of the late 1920s and early 1930s closed down many hospitals and other businesses across the country. Pasadena Hospital, too, faced an uncertain future. But in 1936, a $2 million gift from the estate of Henry E. Huntington allowed the hospital not only to survive, but to thrive. The funds were used to build a new main building, clear all hospital debts, and provide service and parking facilities. In addition, the Huntington Trust was established and today continues to support the hospital's vital work. Huntington Hospital’s official page is intended to support the mission and values of the hospital, provide information and news related to the hospital and create a forum for dialogue and interaction among its followers.
