Yoga without philosophy and embodied right action is some hollow version of “wellness”. Yoga is not politically neutral and is very much oriented in justice and reality. It is not all feel good. In fact, living yoga is revealing and asks us to directly to get involved and face reality. It asks us to review privilege and how we’re using it as a force (and resource)for non violence and truth. It asks us to honor the teachings as coming from India and the ancient texts. It asks us to protect and create accessible yoga for those who need and want this beautiful ancient tradition.
It’s no surprise to hear Chopra is mentioned thousands of times in Epstein files, or Core Power Yoga is protecting ICE agents and penalizing whistle blowers, or that DJT is racist and greatly disrespecting Black History Month and the Obamas. This abuse is vile and disgusting and seemingly unending.
This is a call to not bury your head in the sand. Be aghast. Listen. Name it. Take action. Learn. Rest. What are the ways you can access your power and live yoga given the time and place in which we find ourselves?
